It also has a one-of-a-kind open shower with a cultured marble gray shower base, 12 x 24 polished Venatino wall tile with 1" chrome Schluter Systems strips used as a unique decorative accent. The shower includes a storage niche and shower bench, along with rainfall and handheld showerheads, and a sandblasted glass panel. Next to the shower is an Amba towel warmer. Our clients were looking to renovate their existing master bedroom into a more luxurious, modern space with an open floor plan and expansive modern bath design. The existing floor plan felt too cramped and didn’t offer much closet space or spa like features. Without having to make changes to the exterior structure, we designed a space customized around their lifestyle and allowed them to feel more relaxed at home.
Our modern design features an open-concept master bedroom suite that connects to the master bath for a total of 600 square feet. We included floating modern style vanity cabinets with white Zen quartz, large black format wall tile, and floating hanging mirrors. Located right next to the vanity area is a large, modern style pull-out linen cabinet that provides ample storage, as well as a wooden floating bench that provides storage below the large window. The centerpiece of our modern design is the combined free-standing tub and walk-in, curb less shower area, surrounded by views of the natural landscape. To highlight the modern design interior, we added light white porcelain large format floor tile to complement the floor-to-ceiling dark grey porcelain wall tile to give off a modern appeal. Last not but not least, a frosted glass partition separates the bath area from the toilet, allowing for a semi-private toilet area.

MMAD ArchitectureDark floor tiles laid in a herringbone pattern wrap up the shower wall and into the skylight over the shower. Timber joinery , marble benchtop, full height mirror and Venetian plaster add contrast and warmth to the bathroom.

Haven Design and ConstructionThis modern primary bath is a study in texture and contrast. The textured porcelain walls behind the vanity and freestanding tub add interest and contrast with the window wall's dark charcoal cork wallpaper. Large format limestone floors contrast beautifully against the light wood vanity. The porcelain countertop waterfalls over the vanity front to add a touch of modern drama and the geometric light fixtures add a visual punch. The 70" tall, angled frame mirrors add height and draw the eye up to the 10' ceiling. The textural tile is repeated again in the horizontal shower niche to tie all areas of the bathroom together. The shower features dual shower heads and a rain shower, along with body sprays to ease tired muscles. The modern angled soaking tub and bidet toilet round of the luxury features in this showstopping primary bath.

The original toilet was situated straight off of the landing space and lacked any privacy as it opened onto the landing. The original bathroom was separate from the WC with the entrance at the end of the landing. To get to the rear bedroom meant passing through the bathroom which was not ideal. The layout was reconfigured to create a family bathroom which incorporated a walk-in shower where the original toilet had been and freestanding bath under a large sash window. The new bathroom is slightly slimmer than the original this is to create a short corridor leading to the rear bedroom.
The ceiling was removed and the joists exposed to create the feeling of a larger space. A rooflight sits above the walk-in shower and the room is flooded with natural daylight. Hanging plants are hung from the exposed beams bringing nature and a feeling of calm tranquility into the space.

This traditional bath had an outdated appearance and had not worn well over time. The owners sought a more personalized and inviting space with increased functionality.
The new design provides a larger shower, free-standing tub, increased storage, a window for the water-closet and a large combined walk-in closet. This contemporary spa-bath offers a dedicated space for each spouse and tremendous storage.
