A compact space but fully functional. This space used to have a large soaking tub and double vanity but could not be used by client. Now she can easily move about and use it daily.

This project challenges the traditional idea of context in one of San Francisco's most rapidly evolving neighborhoods. The form of the addition takes its cues from the varied streetscape and brings the existing structure into a stronger compositional dialogue with its neighbors. The new story is set back from the street, balancing its scale and proportion with the lower floors.

A master bath gets reinvented into a luxurious spa-like retreat in tranquil shades of aqua blue, crisp whites and rich bittersweet chocolate browns. A mix of materials including glass tiles, smooth riverstone rocks, honed granite and practical porcelain create a great textural palette that is soothing and inviting. The symmetrical vanities were anchored on the wall to make the floorplan feel more open and the clever use of space under the sink maximizes cabinet space. Oversize La Cava vessels perfectly balance the vanity tops and bright chrome accents in the plumbing components and vanity hardware adds just enough of a sparkle. Photo by Pete Maric.
This guest bathroom remodel drastically changed this old, bland, compact bathroom into a rustic paradise. The use of slate in the shower as well as the floor tile really sets this bathroom off as unique. Now guests beg to use this handsome bathroom when they visit!
