Haven Design and ConstructionThis sophisticated black and white bath belongs to the clients' teenage son. He requested a masculine design with a warming towel rack and radiant heated flooring. A few gold accents provide contrast against the black cabinets and pair nicely with the matte black plumbing fixtures. A tall linen cabinet provides a handy storage area for towels and toiletries. The focal point of the room is the bold shower accent wall that provides a welcoming surprise when entering the bath from the basement hallway.
Cathie Hong InteriorsThis Willow Glen Eichler had undergone an 80s renovation that sadly didn't take the midcentury modern architecture into consideration. We converted both bathrooms back to a midcentury modern style with an infusion of Japandi elements. We borrowed space from the master bedroom to make the master ensuite a luxurious curbless wet room with soaking tub and Japanese tiles.
Devine Bath & KitchenMaster bathroom gets major modern update. Built in vanity with natural wood stained panels, quartz countertop and undermount sink. New walk in tile shower with large format tile, hex tile floor, shower bench, multiple niches for storage, and dual shower head. New tile flooring and lighting throughout. Small second vanity sink.
Fireclay TilePlaying off the grey subway tile in this bathroom, the herringbone-patterned thin brick adds sumptuous texture to the floor.

Background/description: The house was built in 1908, my clients are only the 3rd owners of the house. The prior owner lived there from 1940s until she died at age of 98! The old home had loads of character and charm but was in pretty bad condition and desperately needed updates. The clients purchased the home a few years ago and did some work before they moved in (roof, HVAC, electrical) but decided to live in the house for a 6 months or so before embarking on the next renovation phase. I had worked with the clients previously on the wife's office space and a few projects in a previous home including the nursery design for their first child so they reached out when they were ready to start thinking about the interior renovations. The goal was to respect and enhance the historic architecture of the home but make the spaces more functional for this couple with two small kids. Clients were open to color and some more bold/unexpected design choices. The design style is updated traditional with some eclectic elements. An early design decision was to incorporate a dark colored french range which would be the focal point of the kitchen and to do dark high gloss lacquered cabinets in the adjacent coffee bar, and we ultimately went with dark green.
Studio AllieView towards walk-in shower. This space used to be the original closet to the master bedroom.
AXIS Productionsa bathroom was added between the existing garage and home. A window couldn't be added, so a skylight brings needed sunlight into the space.
