This double bath renovation was done after the client's children left for college and both bathrooms needed some attention. These bathrooms were designed with a modern aesthetic and interpreted through a warm lens. I researched, selected and recommended the design direction of each bath so that they related but the two still had their own feel. We used high end plumbing and cabinetry throughout. Subtle use of color and texture warm up each space and make each one unique. Photo credit: Peter Lyons

A gray and white colour scheme considerabl;e calms this space . Floating vanity and mirrored storage door visually enlarge it, and with adequate storage to contain necessities, this tiny bathroom has become a calming ensuite.

Warm colors and African inspired elements make up the design of this small guest bathroom. A black glass vessel sink sits atop an antique vanity hand-carved to look like elephant trunks. Bronze accessories complement the ebony stain of the vanity, while adding contrast to the satin nickel faucet and tub fittings. Slate tiles in warm brown, gold and coppery red tones make up the tub surround, feature strip and bath flooring pulling the color palette through the entire space.

The "before" of this project was an all-out turquoise, 80's style bathroom that was cramped and needed a lot of help. The client wanted a clean, calming bathroom that made full use of the limited space. The apartment was in a prewar building, so we sought to preserve the building's rich history while creating a sleek and modern design.
To open up the space, we switched out an old tub and replaced it with a claw foot tub, then took out the vanity and put in a pedestal sink, making up for the lost storage with a medicine cabinet. Marble subway tiles, brass details, and contrasting black floor tiles add to the industrial charm, creating a chic but clean palette.
