天井を高く設定し南側と北側の両方に大きな開口を設けることでSE構法のメリットを最大限活かした明るく開放的な空間となりました。

株式会社 エムロード環境造形研究所3本引きの大きな障子と木製ガラス戸とが一気に全面開放でき、芝生の庭と繋がれることが特徴となった若い家族のためのローコスト住宅である。広い敷地を余すことなく、のびのびと配置された建築に対して、今では庭の植栽が全てを覆い隠すほどに成長し、自然と建築との一体化が日ごとに進んでいる。
12/12 Architects & PlannersThis 1990s brick home had decent square footage and a massive front yard, but no way to enjoy it. Each room needed an update, so the entire house was renovated and remodeled, and an addition was put on over the existing garage to create a symmetrical front. The old brown brick was painted a distressed white.
The 500sf 2nd floor addition includes 2 new bedrooms for their teen children, and the 12'x30' front porch lanai with standing seam metal roof is a nod to the homeowners' love for the Islands. Each room is beautifully appointed with large windows, wood floors, white walls, white bead board ceilings, glass doors and knobs, and interior wood details reminiscent of Hawaiian plantation architecture.
The kitchen was remodeled to increase width and flow, and a new laundry / mudroom was added in the back of the existing garage. The master bath was completely remodeled. Every room is filled with books, and shelves, many made by the homeowner.

パッシブデザインを活かし、大開口の窓からは西日の強い陽射しが入らないようにレイアウト。
ひな壇状の階段の下は階段の下は収納スペース。階段の手摺は、スチール手摺を採用し、スッキリした印象に。
株式会社kotoriリビングの床をキッチン・ダイニングの床より３５㎝下げる「ダウンリビング」としました。
リビング部分を１段下げることによって目線の高さが変わります。
こうすることで、家族の気配は感じられるけども程よい距離感や空間の緩やかな区切りを生み出すことができます。
