transFORM HomeConvert a small space to a polished eye-catching and functional home office. We used white painted maple wood veneers and solid wood painted doors, moldings and trims to give the space a formal style. This home office boasts under cabinet LED lighting, doors with glass inserts, upper cabinets surrounded by wrap around shelving for books and accent pieces and sturdy maple wood drawers for storing office supplies or filing important documents.

Orren Pickell Building GroupA home office off the kitchen can be concealed with a pocket door. Gray-painted maple Wood-Mode cabinetry complements the kitchen finishes but makes the space unique.
**Project Overview**
A small, quiet, efficient office space for one that is perfect for sorting mail and paying bills. Though small it has a great deal of natural light and views out the front of the house of the lush landscaping and wildlife. A pocket door makes the office disappear when it's time to entertain.
**What Makes This Project Unique?**
Small yet incredibly functional, this desk space is a comfortable, quiet place to catch up on home management tasks. Filled with natural light and offering a view of lush landscaping, the compact space is light and airy. To keep it from feeling cramped or crowded, we complemented warm gray-painted maple cabinetry with light countertops and tile. Taller ceilings allow ample storage, including full-height open storage, to manage all of the papers, files and extras that find their way into the home.
**Design Challenges**
While the office was intentionally designed into a tiny nook off the kitchen and pantry, we didn't want it to feel small for the people using it. By keeping the color palette light, taking cabinetry to the ceiling, incorporating open storage and maximizing natural light, the space feels cozy, and larger than it actually is.

Working with this Glen Ellyn client was so much fun the first time around, we were thrilled when they called to say they were considering moving across town and might need some help with a bit of design work at the new house.
The kitchen in the new house had been recently renovated, but it was not exactly what they wanted. What started out as a few tweaks led to a pretty big overhaul of the kitchen, mudroom and laundry room. Luckily, we were able to use re-purpose the old kitchen cabinetry and custom island in the remodeling of the new laundry room — win-win!
As parents of two young girls, it was important for the homeowners to have a spot to store equipment, coats and all the “behind the scenes” necessities away from the main part of the house which is a large open floor plan. The existing basement mudroom and laundry room had great bones and both rooms were very large.
To make the space more livable and comfortable, we laid slate tile on the floor and added a built-in desk area, coat/boot area and some additional tall storage. We also reworked the staircase, added a new stair runner, gave a facelift to the walk-in closet at the foot of the stairs, and built a coat closet. The end result is a multi-functional, large comfortable room to come home to!
Just beyond the mudroom is the new laundry room where we re-used the cabinets and island from the original kitchen. The new laundry room also features a small powder room that used to be just a toilet in the middle of the room.
You can see the island from the old kitchen that has been repurposed for a laundry folding table. The other countertops are maple butcherblock, and the gold accents from the other rooms are carried through into this room. We were also excited to unearth an existing window and bring some light into the room.

LiLu InteriorsOur Minneapolis design studio gave this home office a feminine, fashion-inspired theme. The highlight of the space is the custom built-in desk and shelves. The room has a simple color scheme of gray, cream, white, and lavender, with a pop of purple added with the comfy accent chair. Medium-tone wood floors add a dash of warmth.

Woodland BuildersA video producer and animation entrepreneur with a young family sought a private retreat, creative space for guests, and a dedicated work studio. After teaming up with an architect, this client chose Woodland Builders for the 747-square-foot ADU construction. The floor plan includes a vaulted great room with double doors to a covered patio, a full bath, a kitchenette, and a versatile office space that can transform into a guest room with double doors leading to the covered porch.
Key Features:
- A small closet built into the full bath, designed to fit the hot water heater and shelves for storage

The Green Room InteriorsUpdate of a sunroom that is used as a home office as part of the primary suite. Dark walls provide a cozy feel while updated upholstery mixes with family pieces to create a comfortable, relaxed feel
K and Q InteriorsHome office for two people with quartz countertops, black cabinets, custom cabinetry, gold hardware, gold lighting, big windows with black mullions, and custom stool in striped fabric with x base on natural oak floors
CO InteriorsThis office was created for a couple who both works from home and collaborate together from time to time. We created a custom T-shape desk surface which creates a partition between the two work stations yet offers a collaborative surface if necessary. The most interesting feature within the office is the photographic artwork of Italian architecture in the middle of the upper shelving unit. It’s actually divided into three sections and attached to a pair of sliding doors, which open and close part of the storage unit.
