A full kitchen redesign in Norwood Junction, taking a kitchen that previously lacked enough storage to create a stylish and functional space that my clients want to cook and spend time in. The brief was to create a kitchen with dark tones and plenty of wood, and I designed this with black fenix and oak veneer doors, coupled with splashback and floor tiles for texture. Here the layout was dramatically changed, adding in floor to ceiling cabinetry, open shelving, a breakfast cupboard and opening up the window by removing the sink and dishwasher that were previously here. La cucina è il cuore della casa, aperta rispetto allo spazio e con doppio accesso al terrazzo, presenta una generosa penisola con banco colazione integrato. Il contrasto cromatico black and white fa risaltare la cucina dalla parete scura di fondo richiamando il colore con il top e il rivestimento del paraschizzi.

Shaker cabinetry with 45mm rails and stiles is painted in light green, paired with 30mm honed Carrara marble worktops. The sink is a Villeroy & Boch Farmhouse 800 Belfast, fitted with a Quooker Fusion Round in Patinated Brass and independent pull-out spray by Bidbury & Co in matching finish. Above, a solid oak shelf finished in Rubio Monocoat White Oak sits below Corston wall lights, with antique brass Corston Kilburn knobs and handles completing the run.

One of the focal points in this kitchen is the large central island, designed with raised legs and metal feet to give it a more furniture-like presence. Finished in Little Greene Light Bronze Green, the island incorporates seating on the rear, with Oka Panela rattan bar stools in a chestnut finish. The Calacatta Altissimo marble worktop continues here, again detailed with a double bullnose edge. Behind the island, the perimeter run includes the main sink and a black AGA, set within a softly arched surround. The back wall is finished in zellige tiles with metal tacks, adding texture and a subtle decorative detail without overwhelming the scheme.

This view captures the full island finished in Rubio Monocoat White Oak, positioned centrally within the space and oriented towards the arched chimney housing the Black Everhot 150. The island is topped with 30mm honed Carrara marble and incorporates drawer storage to the working side, with space for bar stools along the rear elevation to create an informal seating area. The layout establishes a clear working triangle between cooker, sink and island, with the oak detailing visually linking the island, mantle shelf and pantry doors beyond.
