I shot the Summer House for decorative artist Miles Negus Fancy design.
In 2010, Miles became an Industry Partner for the British Institute of Interior Design serving as one of 4 accredited muralists. In 2012, Miles travelled to Japan to work with several shikkui plasterers under the guiding hand of Nobuyoshi Yukihira san, president of the Shikkui Association and Tagawa Sangyo, Japan's leading manufacturer of shikkui lime plaster. Miles is one of the few UK based, japanese trained practioners of shikkui polished plaster, he is an approved applicator.

The undercabinet lighting showcases the Cambria Aberdeen quartz countertop, which offers rare beauty and is the centerpiece of the kitchen. The colorfulness of the countertop is balanced with a solid-colored glass tile for the backsplash.

Originally built in the 30's the kitchen of this Craftsman home had been redone several times. This remodel opened the space to the living/dining space for the first time and updated the functionality and work flow in addition to incorporating materials that reminded the homeowners of their roots in Wisconsin.

Location: Washington D.C., DC, USA
The very first galley kitchens were the small kitchens that belonged inside ships. They are narrow and fit only the kitchen essentials to make use of all available space. The galley style kitchen layout consists of two parallel kitchen areas with space in between. One side is for the cooking area and includes the stove and oven. The other side has the wash and prep area that includes the sink and chopping board area. Cabinets are often placed above and below the prep and cook area to add extra storage.

This is the basement suite of a Grandview development that features a spacious 4-bedroom high-end home built over a 1-bed suite [accessible from the house] and an independent 2-bed/2-bath apartment.
It was constructed from pre-fabricated Structual Insulated Panels. This, and other highly innovative construction technologies put the building in a class of its own regarding performance and sustainability. The structure has been seismically-upgraded, and materials have been selected to stand the test of time. The design is strikingly modern but respectful, and the layout is expectionally practical and efficient.
The house is on a steep hill, providing views of the north-shore mountains from all floors. The large rooftop deck has panoramic views of the city. The open-plan living/dining room opens out onto a large south-facing deck.
