We went with a minimalist, clean, industrial look that feels light, bright and airy. The island is a dark charcoal with cool undertones that coordinates with the cabinetry and transom work in both the neighboring mudroom and breakfast area. White subway tile, quartz countertops, white enamel pendants and gold fixtures complete the update. The ends of the island are shiplap material that is also used on the fireplace in the next room.
In the new mudroom, we used a fun porcelain tile on the floor to get a pop of pattern, and walnut accents add some warmth. Each child has their own cubby, and there is a spot for shoes below a long bench. Open shelving with spots for baskets provides additional storage for the room.

SV DesignRenovated to accommodate a family of eight, this oceanfront home proudly overlooks the gateway to Marblehead Neck. This renovation preserves and highlights the character and charm of the existing circa 1900 gambrel while providing comfortable living for this large family. The finished product is a unique combination of fresh traditional, as exemplified by the contrast of the pool house interior and exterior.

Rande Leaman Interior DesignThe front room is used primarily as a sitting room/reading room by our clients. Four upholstered chairs in a teal blue velvet surround a wood and iron table. A window seat is covered in a navy blue faux linen, with pillows of varying hues of blue. This is a perfect spot for morning coffee and reading the paper!

Alexandra Rae DesignA large open concept kitchen and family room offers full views from end to end. The white kitchen (see previous photo), and its breakfast area, open the open concept family room. The entire space is surrounded by windows which flood the rooms with light.
Simply Home DecoratingOur goal on this project was to make the main floor of this lovely early 20th century home in a popular Vancouver neighborhood work for a growing family of four. We opened up the space, both literally and aesthetically, with windows and skylights, an efficient layout, some carefully selected furniture pieces and a soft colour palette that lends a light and playful feel to the space. Our clients can hardly believe that their once small, dark, uncomfortable main floor has become a bright, functional and beautiful space where they can now comfortably host friends and hang out as a family. Company COur Lounge Lake Rug features circles of many hues, some striped, some color-blocked, in a crisp grid on a neutral ground. This kind of rug easily ties together all the colors of a room, or adds pop in a neutral scheme. The circles are both loop and pile, against a loop ground, and there are hints of rayon in the wool circles, giving them a bit of a sheen and adding to the textural variation. CM Natural DesignsThe goal for this project was to create a space that felt “beachy” for the Lewis’ who moved from Utah to San Diego last year. These recent retirees needed a casual living room for everyday use and to handle the wear and tear of grandchildren. They also wanted a sophisticated environment to reflect this point in their lives and to have a welcoming atmosphere for guests.

Margaret Donaldson InteriorsFour swivel chairs in petit, hand-blocked print are situated around a reclaimed iron and wood coffee table. Root stools serve as drink tables between the chairs. A turquoise sofa completes the seating. Being an island home, the seagrass rug adds the casual tone to the over design. The barstools were selected to add to the overall design of the living room. Their style, finish and zebra upholstery work with the overall room. They are part of the living room more than they are part of the kitchen.
