Elevating the heart of the home with a functional utility hidden behind the cabinets of the kitchen! It provides our client with a space to keep laundry out of view and an area designated for the laundry. Designed in our Mapesbury just like the kitchen, the cabinets have been hand-painted in Slate 1 to give a fresh and appealing look. At The Handmade Kitchen Company, we believe every corner in your home deserves the touch of exquisite craftsmanship and that’s why we design utility rooms that beautifully coexist with the kitchen! Adding to further functions of the room are Fisher and Paykel appliances, solid oak pull-out drying racks, a Shaws of Darwin Butler sink, a pull-out spray tap and durable worktops with a beautiful splashback in Honed marble. When designing and planning the utility, Charlotte knew it had to be a practical space for laundry, cleaning products and for the fur baby, Ralph. A larger Shaws butler sink was chosen to wash the boy’s football boots, soak pans and bathe Ralph. The statement gold tap not only looks amazing but is so handy, as it gives the rinse hose option which is ideal for rinsing things off in the sink. The idea of the pull-out shelf under the appliances, makes chores an easy task, a more organised space and no more bending as everything is at eye level. Look closely underneath the cabinets and there’s a space just for Ralph! This incorporated dog bed allows Ralph to take a nap in a quiet surrounding or somewhere to go after a lovely country walk. In Charlotte’s own words, “The utility room has become one of the most used rooms in the house and if anyone is designing or planning their utility room really think about how you would like to use the space and what layouts work for you and your everyday life.”

With a busy working lifestyle and two small children, Burlanes worked closely with the home owners to transform a number of rooms in their home, to not only suit the needs of family life, but to give the wonderful building a new lease of life, whilst in keeping with the stunning historical features and characteristics of the incredible Oast House.

With side access, the new laundry doubles as a mudroom for coats and bags.

Within the house's utility, Flat-panel parched Oak doors are framed with slim, protruding gables, and are opened by custom solid oak handles. Extra-tall cabinetry makes the most of the available height, incorporating dedicated drying cabinets, broom storage and generous utility provision. A choice of finishes and a considered ridged door-handle detail add a layer of individuality, while 20mm polished Mystery Quartz worktops and the BLANCO Jandora-S sink provide a distinctive, clean finish.

A bright laundry takes the pain from one of the boring household chores. This laundry has plenty of storage for pet car, pool items and outdoor entertaining crockery. It even has a dishwasher. The sink has been fitted with a retractable hose on the tap and is deep enough to wash the family dog. The front loader washing machine and dryer have been lifted off the floor to save bending.

Hatch Renovations were contacted by the home owners to assist them with a new design and layout for their existing Bathroom. The room was part of a 1990’s home that had now dated with its colour palette and fittings. The existing Bathroom layout included a Vanity and combination Shower Bath. The client's main focus was to include a separate Bath and Shower with the dream of including a Freestanding Bath. We worked with the client at their home and planned out the new Bathroom layout to include all of their dream inclusions and a floor plan that added more space with a walk-in Shower wet room and floating Vanity. We assisted the client will all design elements, selection of finishes and fittings to deliver the client a room that included all the additions they'd hoped for and a more modern and functional space that suited their changing lifestyle.

This laundry is ideal for a busy family. Featuring a mudroom upon entering the house then into large laundry room with a separate storage area.
