Josh Wynne ConstructionI built this on my property for my aging father who has some health issues. Handicap accessibility was a factor in design. His dream has always been to try retire to a cabin in the woods. This is what he got.
It is a 1 bedroom, 1 bath with a great room. It is 600 sqft of AC space. The footprint is 40' x 26' overall.
The site was the former home of our pig pen. I only had to take 1 tree to make this work and I planted 3 in its place. The axis is set from root ball to root ball. The rear center is aligned with mean sunset and is visible across a wetland.
The goal was to make the home feel like it was floating in the palms. The geometry had to simple and I didn't want it feeling heavy on the land so I cantilevered the structure beyond exposed foundation walls. My barn is nearby and it features old 1950's "S" corrugated metal panel walls. I used the same panel profile for my siding. I ran it vertical to match the barn, but also to balance the length of the structure and stretch the high point into the canopy, visually. The wood is all Southern Yellow Pine. This material came from clearing at the Babcock Ranch Development site. I ran it through the structure, end to end and horizontally, to create a seamless feel and to stretch the space. It worked. It feels MUCH bigger than it is.
I milled the material to specific sizes in specific areas to create precise alignments. Floor starters align with base. Wall tops adjoin ceiling starters to create the illusion of a seamless board. All light fixtures, HVAC supports, cabinets, switches, outlets, are set specifically to wood joints. The front and rear porch wood has three different milling profiles so the hypotenuse on the ceilings, align with the walls, and yield an aligned deck board below. Yes, I over did it. It is spectacular in its detailing. That's the benefit of small spaces.
Concrete counters and IKEA cabinets round out the conversation.

SDA ArchitectsAfter the second fallout of the Delta Variant amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic in mid 2021, our team working from home, and our client in quarantine, SDA Architects conceived Japandi Home.
The initial brief for the renovation of this pool house was for its interior to have an "immediate sense of serenity" that roused the feeling of being peaceful. Influenced by loneliness and angst during quarantine, SDA Architects explored themes of escapism and empathy which led to a “Japandi” style concept design – the nexus between “Scandinavian functionality” and “Japanese rustic minimalism” to invoke feelings of “art, nature and simplicity.” This merging of styles forms the perfect amalgamation of both function and form, centred on clean lines, bright spaces and light colours.
Grounded by its emotional weight, poetic lyricism, and relaxed atmosphere; Japandi Home aesthetics focus on simplicity, natural elements, and comfort; minimalism that is both aesthetically pleasing yet highly functional.
Japandi Home places special emphasis on sustainability through use of raw furnishings and a rejection of the one-time-use culture we have embraced for numerous decades. A plethora of natural materials, muted colours, clean lines and minimal, yet-well-curated furnishings have been employed to showcase beautiful craftsmanship – quality handmade pieces over quantitative throwaway items.
A neutral colour palette compliments the soft and hard furnishings within, allowing the timeless pieces to breath and speak for themselves. These calming, tranquil and peaceful colours have been chosen so when accent colours are incorporated, they are done so in a meaningful yet subtle way. Japandi home isn’t sparse – it’s intentional.
The integrated storage throughout – from the kitchen, to dining buffet, linen cupboard, window seat, entertainment unit, bed ensemble and walk-in wardrobe are key to reducing clutter and maintaining the zen-like sense of calm created by these clean lines and open spaces.
The Scandinavian concept of “hygge” refers to the idea that ones home is your cosy sanctuary. Similarly, this ideology has been fused with the Japanese notion of “wabi-sabi”; the idea that there is beauty in imperfection. Hence, the marriage of these design styles is both founded on minimalism and comfort; easy-going yet sophisticated. Conversely, whilst Japanese styles can be considered “sleek” and Scandinavian, “rustic”, the richness of the Japanese neutral colour palette aids in preventing the stark, crisp palette of Scandinavian styles from feeling cold and clinical.
Japandi Home’s introspective essence can ultimately be considered quite timely for the pandemic and was the quintessential lockdown project our team needed.
sROOMSDer dunkle Sichtdachstuhl und der alte helle Laminatboden tauschten die Farbe. Ein dunkler Holzfußboden zog ein und der Dachstuhl sowie Türen und Fenster wurden in weiß getaucht. Das Zimmer strahlt. Schöne Wanddeko, eine rustikale Holzbank und ein gemütlicher Lesesessel machen das Zimmer perfekt.
Studio Nucli (Anteriormente C-Interiorismo)Puesta a punto de un piso en el centro de Barcelona. Los cambios se basaron en pintura, cambio de pavimentos, cambios de luminarias y enchufes, y decoración.
El pavimento escogido fue porcelánico en lamas acabado madera en tono medio. Para darle más calidez y que en invierno el suelo no esté frío se complementó con alfombras de pelo suave, largo medio en tono natural.
Al ser los textiles muy importantes se colocaron cortinas de lino beige, y la ropa de cama en color blanco.
el mobiliario se escogió en su gran mayoría de madera.
El punto final se lo llevan los marcos de fotos y gran espejo en el comedor.
El cambio de look de cocina se consiguió con la pintura del techo, pintar la cenefa por encima del azulejo, pintar los tubos que quedaban a la vista, cambiar la iluminación y utilizar cortinas de lino para tapar las zonas abiertas

MNDA StudioThe project derives from the search for a better quality of life in the pandemic era, enhancing the life simplicity with respect for nature using ecological and
natural systems. The customer of the mobile house is a couple of Japanese professionals: a biologist and an astronomer, driven by the possibility of smart working, decide to live in natural and unspoiled areas in a small mobile home. The house is designed to offer a simple and versatile living comfort with the possibility of moving to different natural areas of Japan being able to face different climates with a highly eco-friendly structure. The interior spaces offer a work station and both horizontal and vertical astronomical observation points.

Houzz-bruger-ID-3361014The design looked towards sustainability by opting not to demolish the existing building, instead working with it, thermally upgrading its performance and utilising Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) as a lightweight and sustainable construction solution to form the bedroom extension.
Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) allowed the super structure to be erected within two weeks. This creative cross discipline collaboration with timber engineers Eurban and structural engineers Webb Yates minimised the programme and the requirement for road closure on the tight urban site. This construction technology also allowed the existing foundations to be used - reducing the requirement for archaeological investigations on the sensitive medieval site. The CLT acted both structurally, thermally and internally as a warm durable finished product, offering a warmth and contrast to the planes created by the white plastered existing walls and rubber floor.

Nos hemos enfocado a vizualizar 3D un nuevo conjunto de apartamentos, con un Diseño de Interior que llene de tranquilidad a cada visitante con un estilo Nordico pero principalemnte acogedor, usando materiales naturales convirtiendo cada espacio en una experiencia unica para poder pasar un tiempo agradable, donde el viento frio de las montañas no es el unico ambiente del que se puede drisfrutar, haciendo un cambio de gran calidez en el Sauna o al lado de la chimenea.
