Tall Tree House is a multi-award-winning biophilic home nestled in the native bush of Queenstown. Designed by Carolin Friese – CF Architecture, the house has received national recognition for its innovative use of space, connection to nature, and outstanding energy efficiency. Most notably, it won the Biophilic Design Award from the Living Future Institute of Australia, celebrating its seamless integration of architecture and landscape. A true role model for sustainable design, the home demonstrates how Passive House principles, natural materials, and smart design can create a healthy, resilient, and inspiring living environment.

Where modernity meets contemplation, this media sanctuary transforms technology into art. A deep charcoal, ribbed wall cradles the matte-black television like a monolith of minimalism, flanked by warm wood cabinetry that dissolves into shadows.

The guest bedroom highlights a beautifully upholstered headboard paired with a warm timber slatted feature wall, enhanced by soft integrated lighting. A sculptural bedside table with brass lamp adds elegance, while layered cushions and a chunky knit throw create a cosy and inviting feel.

Tilted House, sits tucked away behind lush established trees, in its own hidden oasis. The building is spread out and single-story which enables internal spaces to connect easily with the outdoor living, and ensures that the home nestles into its resort-like surroundings. With raking/splayed rooflines pushed in different directions, volume is added to the main living areas. Large sheltering eaves appear to float above angled clerestory windows, which welcome natural light and offer sweeping vistas across treetops. Tilted House features a contemporary interior with a clean palette, functional design, and natural materials, creating a relaxed and adaptable living space.
