but light tile on floor and what other colors would compliment two rooms on either side of this bathroom?

I use this color often in small spaces - it is absolutely not too dark. (although I love dark colors in small spaces - it's an old wive's tale that it makes them seem smaller!) It's such a neutral color that just about any color works with it.
