The window is glazed from the interior so that the glass can be removed should it ever need to be replaced. The material of the jamb, head, and sill is ipe, and is finished with Penofin interior hardwood forumula: http://www.penofin.com/products_hardwood_interior.shtml. It is not a nightmare to keep clean.
