    Emily Stanford. No it is not Dinesen. We bought the boards on a local sawmill. They are solid fir.

    Eutree:
    You apply the lye with a brush two times. When properly dried you make a bucket of hot water mixed with white pigmented soap (trip trap).
    You apply the water/soap mixture with a cloth in a good layer and let it soak in.
    repeat the treatment until the board stop soaking the liquid.
    Dry away the excess soap.

    Every time I wash my floor I use the white pigmentet soap. I wash appr. once a month.

      Hi Emily. The floors are made of fir planks, treated with lye and white soap.

      Also look at white oiled floors to create a similar look.

      I agree, Eutree - it's a way to do it as well. In my experience though, it's important to treat with lye first to avoid the wood to oxidate and get yellow. The floor on my picture is 18 years old and still not yellow.
