Johanna was professional and took the time to find out what I really wanted for my garden. Her plant choices were perfect and my garden is thriving.

I would highly recommend Jo from My Verandah. She looked at the space, listened and quickly developed a plan to match what we wanted. She then worked with the landscaper, ordering and placing the plants. The whole process could not have been easier or more cost effective and now we have a beautiful garden in our courtyard rather than a barren, ugly space!

Jo created a lush, inspired, coastal oasis for us that complimented our house and location. Jo was creative, out of the box and delivered a truly original design that we couldn’t be happier with. Highly recommend my verandah.

I'm so glad we engaged Johanna to work on our new front garden - we really had no idea where to start and she was wonderful to work with the whole way through. Johanna is friendly, approachable, professional and has a beautiful design approach and aesthetic. She was very patient with us, even when budget forced us to amend an element of the original design - she was able to pivot and leave us with an end result that we are delighted with whenever we look at it - from the house or from the street. From our very first meeting Johanna was fantastic. She is a great listener which translated to beautiful plans of how my oasis was going to look... I could almost feel the calm and serenity just on paper alone and of course I couldn't wait for the transformation to begin. The recommendation of landscapers was spot on and they certainly delivered the goods. The planting schedule was extensive and watching Johanna herself place and plant these was confirmation of her passion and love of her work. With the plants now well and truly established I can happily confirm that I 100% have that calmness and feeling of being in my very own backyard oasis. The front entrance to the house has also been transformed. Out with the old broken terracotta tiles and in with a winding crazy pave path lined with lush cool foliage. Johanna from My Verandah was amazing! We asked Johanna to come up with a plan for our small, sloping front garden that has lots of challenges, and she delivered. She took on board our wish list, working around existing unusual plants, and came up with a design that exceeded our expectation. It is both beautiful and functional. I love the design of my whole garden by My Verandah. It is very clever the way the design integrates the established trees and existing edging and pathway. The front design really complements the building and allows for coolness in summer and warmth in winter inside the front of the house. Johanna understood my requirements and gave me different suggestions to consider. The design process was a pleasure. Johanna’s vision is amazing. The garden is even more beautiful than I ever imagined. I appreciated Johanna’s efforts in sorting out an issue with plants damaged in transit. Johanna positioned all the plants beautifully. I am delighted that I chose My Verandah for my new garden design.

We engaged Johanna McMinn (My Verandah) as our landscape architect in March 2021 to create a design to reinvigorate our tired garden. Jo’s friendly professional approach saw her quickly understand our space and tropical garden vision. A scaled design was drawn up within days and sent through for consideration. Once approved, Jo kept it moving, introducing us to appropriate landscapers for quotations, along with her paving and accessory suggestions. 2021 has been crazily busy for architects and tradesmen, with people eager to undertake projects; however once engaged, Jo was there covering planting placement and ensuring correct communication. Undertaking projects is daunting, but we can say that Jo’s approach was easy going, adaptable and highly professional, resulting in a lush tropical space. Dawn and Ross Auchenflower

Jo's design of my garden was spot-on and reflected the tropical look I was after. She is really approachable and friendly and her design suited our space perfectly. She was really involved from start to finish and ensured everything ran smoothly with Scott, the landscaper from Rubicon (Jo's recommendation, who was also excellent).

Johanna has done an excellent job on my garden project last year and I’m enjoying it everyday now. With her professional knowledge and experience, she has transformed once a bare garden into a tropical paradise. I do recommend her for any garden projects.

What can I say about Johanna? I am not a gardener. I had an idea of the kind of feel I wanted for our backyard and specific elements that involved a Moongate, privacy, a kind of structured unstructured secret garden that would be a welcome haven for birds and bees and smell beautiful to boot! Poor Jo. If only you can see the result! The garden is unique, lovely to look at from ground level and from the verandah above and exactly like the design Jo provided. We love it, sitting in the garden is wonderful, time is all we need now for the plants to grow and realise the fullness of our secret garden. Thanks Johanna.
