Our award winning design is predominantly contemporary, with an emphasis on simplicity. We work closely with our clients to ensure that each project is individually designed to meet their unique needs and requirements, while reflecting their personality throughout. When approaching renovations, we consider the existing character of the home and often work to restore at the same time as renovate as part of the project, preserving the integrity of the original home. Furze Architecture & Design has been fortunate to receive a number of industry awards over the years, including alterations and interiors awards for Landscape Road and Durham Hair.

We appointed Richard to design our villa extension and he and his team by far exceeded our expectations. Thoroughly communicative, they worked with immaculate attention to detail throughout the entire project. Our extension was completed to the highest standard and without delays. Richard is extremely knowledgeable and didn't hesitate to help whenever we needed it. Looking forward to working together again soon.

Richard was recommended to us by our builder – who had previously undertaken some work with Richard. Once Richard understood how we live and what we wanted from our little 1960’s house, his vision and design enabled a significant transformation to occur. We are really pleased with how the extension and renovation has turned out, and we love living in our 'new' home. Richard was recommended to me when I was looking for an architect to act for me, on a major Villa renovation. Right from the first site visit to discuss the project, until now when its almost complete, I have valued his knowledge, design flare, insights, focus on the detail and drive to complete our house to a level that sets it apart from others. Not only do we love the outcome, but it's great seeing the reactions of friends and people who visit us, knowing that with Richard's help we have created something special. It also helps that Richard is very down to earth and easy to get on with especially when with any project things may become a bit tough. I have no hesitance to recommend Richard and I would definitely use him again, if I was to do another building renovation.

Richard was our designer for the renovation and extension of our home. Richard initially developed the concept design that was subsequently delivered in two stages over 7 years, with detailed design and consenting at each stage. In the last 10 years we have done 2 major alterations to our house and have used Richard to draw up the plans both times. He has always been very professional , easy to work with and has done a great job. He has the ability to listen to his clients wishes and also provide design advice and innovative ideas. He created a modern addition to an older house which blends in seamlessly and provides us with living spaces which are better than we had imagined.

Richard Furze and his team did the plans for our extensive house renovation. His plans were simple but elegant. He really understood what we wanted and solved some architectural issues that we had. He was easy to deal with, taking our opinions on board and being flexible with our wish list. He would fight for his way but was able to concede when we did not budge and was not arrogant or pushy. We would have no hesitation is using him again for future projects and have in fact recommended his services to others.

Richard has drawn a total of 4 houses for us and I have recommended him to a number of friends who have all been as happy with his work as we are. Richards houses are designed for modern living and have the open and light feel that most people are after. He understands the where light comes from and where you want it at different times of the year which we think is really important. Richard has a good understanding of consenting matters and relationships at various levels of council (which can be very useful). We also found he was very transparent and fair with regards to his fees. No hesitation in recommending him for a major reburb or new build (he has done both for us).

Not only is he talented, but he is an excellent communicator and helped us with our choices down to the finest detail. Building a house is stressful, but Richard was always there to reassure us .
