JTID Inc.Drawing inspiration from Japanese architecture, we combined painted maple cabinet door frames with inset panels clad with a rice paper-based covering. The countertops were fabricated from a Southwestern golden granite. The green apothecary jar came from Japan.

Susan Wagner Designs A new backsplash installation in Monterey County gives the place of honor to our Flower Fan and the surrounding tiles in Moss and Bronze. Wide bands of blue glass highlight the artwork, set in a background of stark white porcelain.
Carolyn Robbins Site DesignThe combination of turquoise glass tile, river rock and black granite to reflect the both, alludes to the feeling of a water's edge. All the windows and some trim as shown complimented the large beams used overhead. I was inspired by boats in a harbor, both light and dark components and the reflection of light on a midnight sail.

UserA 19th century Japanese Mizuya is wall mounted and split into two sections to act as upper and lower cabinets. Custom cabinetry mimic the style of the client's prized tonsu chest in the adjacent dining room
Robin Rigby Fisher, CMKBD/CAPS/CLIPPS“I don’t want my kitchen to look like anyone else’s.” This was the client’s request to the designer. Influenced by the style of Bali and the client’s own design sense, the new style was dubbed “Julinese” (her name is Julie).
In keeping with the Balinese style, bold design elements were chosen – 6” pyramidal columns stained with a deep java finish, support the 3” thick Purple Dunas granite countertops and the custom glass eating bar. The electrical outlets are housed in these columns.
Further supporting the Balinese theme, the ceiling over the island was raised in a pyramid style – evoking an outdoor feel. Kable lighting illuminates the kitchen.
Topping the cabinets along the walls and the window sill are dark grey 3” thick concrete counters. When the folding windows are open, the sill becomes a 15” deep serving bar for outdoor entertaining.
For ergonomics – the dishwasher and microwave were raised to 42” and 54” comparatively.

Steve Tull European CabinetryWhen it became time for a sorely needed update for this home in central Austin, the owners decided it would be best accomplished in two phases. The most notable change occurred in the kitchen which held the place as the the larger part of phase one.
As you can see, the space is very small, with no way for expansion. The use of a very efficient space design by Cindy Black of Hello Kitchen, paired with my European cabinetry served to provide the best use of space.

Grayling ConstructionOverlooking Westchester Lagoon, this condominium remodel included the kitchen, master bathroom, and guest bathroom. The kitchen incorporated frameless carbonized bamboo cabinetry, blue luise granite from Brazil, and stainless steel appliances and accents.
Mark Brand ArchitectureThe design of this remodel of a small two-level residence in Noe Valley reflects the owner’s passion for Japanese architecture. Having decided to completely gut the interior partitions, we devised a better arranged floor plan with traditional Japanese features, including a sunken floor pit for dining and a vocabulary of natural wood trim and casework. Vertical grain Douglas Fir takes the place of Hinoki wood traditionally used in Japan. Natural wood flooring, soft green granite and green glass backsplashes in the kitchen further develop the desired Zen aesthetic. A wall to wall window above the sunken bath/shower creates a connection to the outdoors. Privacy is provided through the use of switchable glass, which goes from opaque to clear with a flick of a switch. We used in-floor heating to eliminate the noise associated with forced-air systems.
