Laura Lee HomeThis Great room is where the family spends a majority of their time. A large navy blue velvet sectional is extra deep for hanging out or watching movies. We layered floral pillows, color blocked pillows, and a vintage rug fragment turned decorative pillow on the sectional. The sunny yellow chairs flank the fireplace and an oversized custom gray leather cocktail ottoman does double duty as a coffee table and extra seating. The large wood tray warms up the cool color palette. A trio of openwork brass chandeliers are scaled for the large space. We created a vertical element in the room with stacked gray stone and installed a reclaimed timber as a mantel.
Pu'uwai Design & ConstructionThe living room has a built-in media niche. The cabinet doors are paneled in white to match the walls while the top is a natural live edge in Monkey Pod wood. The feature wall was highlighted by the use of modular arts in the same color as the walls but with a texture reminiscent of ripples on water. On either side of the TV hang a cluster of wooden pendants. The paneled walls and ceiling are painted white creating a seamless design. The teak glass sliding doors pocket into the walls creating an indoor-outdoor space. The great room is decorated in blues, greens and whites, with a jute rug on the floor, a solid log coffee table, slip covered white sofa, and custom blue and green throw pillows.

JFD - Juri Favilli DesignArredare il soggiorno con delle librerie in cartongesso fu un piccolo esercizio di Architettura d’Interni di qualche tempo fa, ma molto stimolante e divertente, quasi un cubo di Rubik.
Un’appartamento di nuova costruzione di una giovanissima coppia, con una zona giorno con cucinotto già diviso e la necessità di organizzare il piccolo soggiorno/pranzo con un divano, qualche mobile contenitore, un tavolo e un mobile porta TV.
Vista la dimensione ridotta, e il posizionamento di porte e finestre, gli spazi liberi per attrezzare le pareti erano pochi, e risultava un gioco di tetris riuscire ad avere un buon tavolo comodo per tutti i giorni e che si allungasse per gli ospiti, un divano di dimensioni non troppo esigue e che fosse opportunamente orientato di fronte alla TV.
Ho optato per un gioco di librerie in cartongesso che portassero in se tutte le funzioni, contenitiva, espressiva, di illuminazione, e che inglobassero anche un tavolo ben ampio per un ambiente così contenuto.
Culwick & Co E-DesignThis client wanted asleek design that extended the expanse of their long wall. This media unit was a perfect fit, with open shelving as well as enclosed storage it was a perfect combination. This was a design and build project.
Mark English Architects, AIAThe Atherton House is a family compound for a professional couple in the tech industry, and their two teenage children. After living in Singapore, then Hong Kong, and building homes there, they looked forward to continuing their search for a new place to start a life and set down roots.
The site is located on Atherton Avenue on a flat, 1 acre lot. The neighboring lots are of a similar size, and are filled with mature planting and gardens. The brief on this site was to create a house that would comfortably accommodate the busy lives of each of the family members, as well as provide opportunities for wonder and awe. Views on the site are internal. Our goal was to create an indoor- outdoor home that embraced the benign California climate.
The building was conceived as a classic “H” plan with two wings attached by a double height entertaining space. The “H” shape allows for alcoves of the yard to be embraced by the mass of the building, creating different types of exterior space. The two wings of the home provide some sense of enclosure and privacy along the side property lines. The south wing contains three bedroom suites at the second level, as well as laundry. At the first level there is a guest suite facing east, powder room and a Library facing west.
The north wing is entirely given over to the Primary suite at the top level, including the main bedroom, dressing and bathroom. The bedroom opens out to a roof terrace to the west, overlooking a pool and courtyard below. At the ground floor, the north wing contains the family room, kitchen and dining room. The family room and dining room each have pocketing sliding glass doors that dissolve the boundary between inside and outside.
Connecting the wings is a double high living space meant to be comfortable, delightful and awe-inspiring. A custom fabricated two story circular stair of steel and glass connects the upper level to the main level, and down to the basement “lounge” below. An acrylic and steel bridge begins near one end of the stair landing and flies 40 feet to the children’s bedroom wing. People going about their day moving through the stair and bridge become both observed and observer.
The front (EAST) wall is the all important receiving place for guests and family alike. There the interplay between yin and yang, weathering steel and the mature olive tree, empower the entrance. Most other materials are white and pure.
The mechanical systems are efficiently combined hydronic heating and cooling, with no forced air required.
A New Day - Interior Design StudioThe living room at Highgate House. An internal Crittall door and panel frames a view into the room from the hallway. Painted in a deep, moody green-blue with stone coloured ceiling and contrasting dark green joinery, the room is a grown-up cosy space.
Closet Organizing SystemsThis ultra-plush gaming retreat area was designed for the family’s children in mind, but what adult would not love to have a game room like this? The sleek design of the cabinetry has a brushed aluminum finish and flat panel doors operated by touch latches. The tall cabinets have pull out drawers for DVD storage and fabric covered panels conceal the large speakers. Opposite the gaming area is the convenience kitchenette and large table for gatherings.
