Houzz Introduces New Categories for Home Professionals, Enhances Visibility for Broad Array of Service Providers and Vendors
Houzz Pro+ Program Experiences 350% Growth in Subscribers Since January 2013

Palo Alto, Calif., May 13, 2013 – Houzz, the world’s leading platform for home remodeling and design, has doubled the number of professional categories on its platform to serve a wider range of home professionals and to help homeowners find exactly the right pro for their needs. Homeowners will now be able to search for professionals across nearly 60 categories, including specialists in areas such as Decks & Patios, Kitchen Remodelers, Home Builders, Home Media, Stone & Pavers, Cabinetry, Ironwork, Tile, Fireplaces, and much more. Houzz expanded the number of categories in response to demand from its increasingly diverse and talented professional community of Home Builders, General Contractors, Interior Designers, Architects, Kitchen & Bath Designers, and Landscapers, among others.

Houzz’s Pro+ premium local marketing program for professionals has also experienced significant growth across categories, with businesses from designers and remodelers to furniture retailers, building products and national suppliers of every kind now participating in the program. Pro+ has seen 350 percent growth in subscribers since the program was announced in January 2013, and is now available across the U.S. and Canada.

A recent survey of the more than 200,000 professionals on Houzz found that 65 percent of those who are active use the platform to generate new business inquiries. The majority also rely on Houzz as a critical communications tool with current and/or prospective clients. Supporting recent reports of a recovery in the housing and renovation markets, 69 percent of pros said demand for their services is higher than it was one year ago.

“Homeowners and professionals alike are telling us that they are moving forward with more building, renovation and design projects this year,” said Liza Hausman, VP Community at Houzz. “Houzz provides homeowners with the absolute best resource to find the right professional for their project.”

Houzz has also experienced significant growth over the past year. More than 14 million people -- 90 percent of whom are homeowners -- are using Houzz to find inspiration, collaborate, research and hire professionals, source products, and manage projects from start to finish, up from four million a year prior. More than 200,000 home professionals across nearly 60 categories, including architects, interior designers and general contractors, now rely on Houzz as a critical business tool to interact with clients, prospective clients, and other building, remodeling and design professionals locally and around the world.
