A Sweet Surprise for Father’s Day: NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving Renovates his Father’s Home in Latest “My Houzz” Episode

Houzz Inc., the leading platform for home remodeling and design, today released the newest episode of “My Houzz,” an online series that follows people as they renovate the home of someone meaningful to them. This episode features NBA Finals champion and four-time All-Star Kyrie Irving as he renovates his father Drederick’s home in West Orange, New Jersey. The episode is available to watch now at houzz.com/myhouzz.

Kyrie and his sister Asia grew up in the home, which holds many memories for the family. Kyrie, with the help of Asia, worked with a New Jersey-based designer from the Houzz community to renovate and redecorate Drederick’s home, using Houzz at every step of the process. Asia also surprised both Kyrie and Drederick with the renovation of a special room. The end result is a more open, functional and beautifully updated space.

“I wanted to do this renovation for my dad because he worked hard to provide for me and my sisters,” said Kyrie Irving. “By using Houzz, I was able to bring my vision for his house in New Jersey to life while I was in Cleveland. I did everything on the app, from finding an amazing local designer to sharing ideas I found there with her to buying all of the materials and furniture from the Houzz Shop for the new space. Now, my dad’s home still feels like home with more space. This surprise was a way for me to thank my dad for everything he has done for our family.”

This is the final episode of the first “My Houzz” series. In the previous episode, renowned recording artist and actor Ludacris executed a secret makeover of his mother Roberta’s home in Atlanta. Ashton Kutcher, Kristen Bell, Jenna Fischer and Mila Kunis starred in episodes that premiered earlier in the series. Each episode documents a well-known public figure as they surprise a close family member that made a difference in their life with the gift of a renovation, using Houzz throughout the journey.

More information on Kyrie’s inspiration and Houzz ideabooks, as well as products and materials used in the renovation, are available on Houzz at www.houzz.com/myhouzz.

“My Houzz” was shot for Houzz by Shed Media and was executive produced by Ashton Kutcher, Pam Healey, John Hesling, Bill Gaudsmith and Dan Pierson.
