Pro Skateboarder Tony Hawk Secretly Renovates Longtime Friend’s Home in New Episode of “My Houzz”

Houzz Inc., the leading platform for home remodeling and design, today released the latest episode of “My Houzz,” an online series that follows people as they renovate the home of someone meaningful to them. The episode features pro skateboarder, Tony Hawk, as he surprises his longtime friend, Kerry Overman, with a secret renovation of her home in Wilmington, North Carolina. The episode is available to watch now at houzz.com/myhouzz.

Hawk met Overman decades ago when she started dating and married his best friend, Nashville skateboarder, Ray Underhill. When Underhill tragically passed away in 2008 after a long battle with brain cancer, Hawk committed to helping his family both as a close friend to Overman and as their children’s godparent. Renovating Overman’s house was a way to give the family something meaningful. Hawk used Houzz to transform their kitchen, living room and bathroom into a more functional and bright space that honors Overman’s rustic style with help from PBC Design + Build from the Houzz community.

“I’m so thankful to be a in this family’s life and it was a huge honor for me to renovate their home,” said Hawk. “I used Houzz to pull together the entire project from finding a local design-build firm with great reviews and sharing ideas with them to buying the ideal products and furniture we used. When Ray passed, I vowed to help Kerry and her family however I can and I am proud that we were able to create such an open, modern and functional space perfect for their close-knit family.”

Earlier episodes of “My Houzz” have featured Ashton Kutcher, Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, Gordon Ramsay, Kyrie Irving, Jenna Fischer, Ludacris, Clay Matthews, Mario Lopez and Olivia Munn. Each episode documents a well-known public figure as they surprise someone who has made a difference in their life with the gift of a renovation, using Houzz throughout the journey.

More information on Hawk’s inspiration and Houzz ideabooks, as well as products and materials used in the renovation, are available on Houzz at www.houzz.com/myhouzz.

“My Houzz” was shot for Houzz by Shed Media and was executive produced by Ashton Kutcher, Pam Healey, John Hesling, Bill Gaudsmith and Dan Pierson.
