Arcke is a multi award-winning architecture practice that concentrates on creative residential projects in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and Noosa. Our designs aspire to elicit feelings of wellbeing and comfort, of connection and inspiration. We value the interaction between architecture and landscape, together with the tactile and sensual response to materiality. Sustainability is at the heart of our practice, both in terms of the footprint and lifecycle of our buildings.Our projects enrich daily lives by creating moments of joy. Our projects have been featured in Houses Magazine, Dwell Magazine, Home Beautiful, Habitus, InsideOut, HomestoLove, Arch Daily and The Design Files. Our Rosalie Plinth House and our Red Hill Halfway House have been featured as Houzz Tours. We provide a comprehensive service that begins with site and spatial analysis, before we start the process of design and documentation. We then move onto negotiating with a contractor and can provide contract administration services, essentially managing the project. We design all internal and external elements for our projects including timber and concrete features, cabinetry as well as specifying quality fixtures and fittings from tiles to tapware. It was a pleasure working with Matthew Kennedy of Arcke on the renovation of our much loved beach house. From the start he understood our wishes to retain much of the original house,and he incorporated interesting new concepts and creative design. The outcome is a delight,with rooms open to sea views and breezes as well as capturing extensive garden outlooks.His clever design affords us the choice of open plan living, or sectioning off areas to meet the needs of multi-generational family living and changing seasons. Matthew oversaw the construction process for us with professionalism and integrity and ensured deadlines were met and workmanship was of the highest standard. Highly recommended.

We have been working with Matt, Kate and Hannah from Arcke for several months now on a renovation to our Old Queenslander. From our very first meeting and subsequent Concept Design, we have been blown away by how quickly the team at Arcke “got us” and took our basic brief and transformed it into the most beautiful design and plans that were beyond our hopes and imagination. We didn’t think our house could be more loved or enjoyed more than it already is but we were wrong. We now see through the lens of Arcke, the beauty and potential in the design of what our home could become; a multi-generational and wheelchair accessible home, our forever home in the community that we love. We look forward to every part of the design process and what more lovely details and considerations are coming next. The Arcke team think of everything and give us confidence in their complete project management service that everything is under control. So far, no stress.. looking forward to breaking ground!

I had a great experience with Matt, Kate and the team at Arcke. In the consultation I was listened to, and given great advice before plans were drawn up. I received the plans in great time, and was blown away by the vision. I've been able to create an outdoor space better than I imagined. Matt and Kate are professional, thoughtful and creative. I highly recommend Arcke.

We hired Matt Kennedy of Arcke to design the renovation of our Queenslander. After extensive consultation with us he came up with a clever, interesting and practical design that has greatly enhanced our house and how we interact as a family. We could not have achieved the result we have without an architect. Matt showed a great respect for the character of the original house while introducing thoughtful, modern design elements to the extension. Our house has warmth, charm, character and it works at a very practical level. We have been back in our renovated house for about a year and the end result makes the inconvenience of renovating seem all worth it! I would highly recommend Matt Kennedy of Arcke.

There are a few reasons that I decided to engage an architect for my renovation. Most importantly I wanted the design to lead the renovation, I didn’t want design choices to be made around making the construction “easy”; I wanted my house to be created for me and my needs; I wanted the details and materials' palette to be as important as the form of the building. Only an architect goes into this amount of detail. I’ve not heard that building desingers or builders going into much design detail at all. Why did I choose Arcke? Well that is easy, I love Matt’s asthetic and he’s also a really nice (and funny) guy!

Choosing an architect is a big decision. We selected Matt Kennedy from ARCKE because he listened and understood our needs. He brings empathy to his work which was very important to us as first time renovators. Matt provided us with beautiful design options that were realistic. He worked with the key features of the existing house and used clever ways to incorporate the new build in a complimentary way and deliver all the features we wanted. Matt’s strong attention to detail helped us work through building approval, interior choices and ultimately managing the project with the builders. The final product is a fabulous new house that is flooded with natural light that seamlessly marries the old and the new. It is a pleasure to come home to.

I really like Matt's approach and perspective- he is professional and very creative. He took time to hear what we wanted and what the current challenges were for us with the space before he found a solution that was unique and clever. I would highly recommend Arcke and particularly Matt and Kate Kennedy's talent and obvious passion for what they do.

We had an ambitious vision and modest budget for our character workers cottage situated on a small lot in a flood zone. Matt Kennedy was able to guide us through the issues and find creative, aesthetic solutions to every curve-ball the site presented and ultimately design a family home that we love.
