Margo acquired her interior design degree from Parsons, The New School of Design and after working for + being immersed in the NYC design world for six years returned to her native New England and in 2014 launched her own full service interior design business. Her ability to mix design periods and styles has been quickly embraced as her aesthetic results in spaces that are truly personalized and unique. Margo has a particular passion for projects where she has the opportunity to breathe new life into an older home and takes a strong position on salvaging architecturally relevant moments wherever possible and contrasting them with more contemporary finishes. This stylistic fusion results in a home that celebrates its storied, collected past while helping it to feel relevant and current in a modern day setting. In 2017 Margo was asked to join Weekender House in Portsmouth, NH which provided her with a platform to fully serve her clients with a one stop accessible resource in lighting, custom furniture, custom upholstery, window treatments, home decor etc. Throughout her design career Margo's projects have ranged from full gut renovations to single rooms and whether it be a physical renovation or a decorative furnishing project her design philosophy can best be summarized by this favorite client quote "Now, why didn't I just think of that?!"

Margo is a great designer and a wonderful person! She generously donated her time to a photo banner installation at our community's new middle school. We took photographs of our students engaged in healthy, fun and community building activities. The photos were made into twenty-two 3x9 ft photo banners and hung in our school's foyer and student commons / cafeteria. It was Margo who designed the placement of the banners, and this was no easy task. She understands space, lighting, and mechanical limitations - the sprinkler system! Her design is powerful, tasteful and engaging. Margo was key to the success of this project and we will always appreciate her generous donation of time and talent.

I loved the concept behind this initiative and felt strongly about preserving the strength of its message. The physical space provided its unique challenges yet the design and final installation showcases a spirit of comraderie and brings such an air of community to the environment. I approached Margo to create pillows for our ski house living room. This is the space where my family spends our best moments relaxing together and I wanted something meaningful, practical and classy. Margo was extremely mindful of costs and proposed different ideas to keep the project under budget. She requested pictures of the room, some fabric samples from our couch and went at it. We then gave her a list of our favorite ski runs where we ski and she did the rest. She designed, sourced materials, customized and fabricated them. The finished product was 5 pillows of various sizes which fit the room perfectly. Each pillow has the name of a ski run, along with the mandatory black diamonds! They tie the various pieces of furniture and rugs together wonderfully. Best of all, they are rugged and still look wonderful after much use. We cuddle up with them, lay on them and there may have even been a pillow fight here or there. They add so much to the room and make me smile every time I look at them. I have received countless compliments from guests who admire them. I couldn't be happier with the end product and the way Margo managed the project from start to finish. I would highly recommend Margo for the design and implementation of projects for your home.

I had no idea how I was going to pull this request off with the custom font, trail name lengths corresponding with pillow sizes etc. etc. and because you gave me such creative license I wasn't sure I had nailed your expectations, until I saw your face the day I delivered and revealed them to you. Your reaction made it all worth it! Thank you for pushing me creatively to deliver such a special and personal touch to your home!

Margo identified and rendered a spatial layout and potential for a restaurant concept I was working on in Portsmouth, NH. What was so helpful were seeing the floor plans, potential materials and elevations/renderings of how the space would look + feel. Having insight into a potential budget and project plan helped me make a decision about whether or not to go forward. I felt truly partnered!

Margo is the ultimate professional as well as a very creative designer. She was always prepared, very organized, and open and responsive to feedback about what we liked or didn't like. She wanted to "get" us, to understand our preferences. We clicked with her personality, which is high energy, upbeat, focused, fun. She has the right blend of taking time for the process of getting to know our wants and needs, as well as being able to get the task done. Beyond the overall interior design of our renovation, she helped with material selections like tile, rugs, wood floor finish, and with selecting wall colors, lighting, and finishing touches from bedding to pillows to art placement.

Margo worked on our 1820 Colonial renovation in Massachusetts. She created a space for us that we absolutely love. She had the design knowledge and skill level for the scope of this project. She was able to listen and understand our wants and needs and give us creative solutions that have made our home so comfortable and beautiful. She was focused on determining what our aesthetic was but also kept it within our budget. She blended our antiques with contemporary pieces which makes our space feel more current. We were on tight deadlines at times with our contractor and she was always able to provide timely advice. She provided storage solutions for closets and mud room that have proven to be indispensable. She is great and I highly recommend her.

This will go down as one of my favorite projects! I so enjoyed working with you and the leap of faith you often took with a number of the design suggestions I made. They weren't what you originally had in mind and some suggestions were even new concepts for you (leathered granite, waterfall edge, and an interrupted floor to name a few) yet, you trusted and followed my lead. The resulting look has exceeded your expectations of how you had originally envisioned your living space 'looking and feeling' and I'm so thrilled to have been a part of it!

Margo Villandry is an artistic genius. She is able to visualize and transmit her concepts more clearly than anyone else I have ever worked with to create interior spaces that vibrate with color, shape and light. She is also very easy to work with and flexible.
