We recently completed a very large home remodel with Coburn. They made the experience an exceptional one from start to finish, and totally exceeded our expectations. After interviewing five architectural/build firms around Boulder, we decided to go with Coburn. Our 1,500 square-foot historic home in Mapleton hill, was completely gutted on the inside and brought up to modern times with a serene quiet elegance. Pete Weber & Grant Yamaki helped to maximize every square inch into a functional yet beautifully designed historic home. Jim Appel is a master builder that had all of his crews assembled for each phase of the project in line and on time! He was always more than fair with a positive attitude when working around challenges that old homes may present. Renovations are a carefully coordinated dance that were seamlessly helped along with Jim’s lovely assistant Megan. Megan is extremely organized & has Coburn’s best rated contacts for anything from custom cabinetry, tile, lighting,appliances to fixtures & floors etc. She went with us to every venue to record all of our choices and to keep us on task. Customer relations with each place was again, seamless. There was always a mutual respect when dealing with any company that had worked with Coburn. From beginning to end, our home was completed in 7 months without the headaches of being the general contractor. We would definitely work with team Coburn again in a heartbeat and highly recommend to all!!

We bought a circa-1930 house in the heart of Boulder and, after living in it for a year, knew it needed some major work to fix the layout and flow, as well as add some living space. We hired Coburn to design and build a major remodel and addition, including adding a true master bedroom, a bathroom, adding a new way to get downstairs, and gutting and re-laying out the entire downstairs, including bedrooms and bathroom - all while preserving the character of this great old house. From the initial design exploration, to drawings, to the actual demo and re-build, our experience was seamless, open, professional, and enjoyable. It was a great collaboration that came in on time and on-budget, except where we chose to add elements. When I now hear so many unfortunate stories about contractors not showing up or projects extending significantly beyond deadline, we are so glad we made the decision to go with a company that has deep roots in Boulder, and has a strong network of sub-contractors that do great work. Last, we really felt we got to know the team as neighbors and friends, in addition to partners in our project.

After considering 3 other design-builders, we contracted Coburn for architectural planning and construction of a 4-bedroom custom home along the Front Range. This was our second custom build, and we selected Coburn for their professionalism, organization, responsiveness, and positive references. Even though we were out of state, the Coburn team kept us updated on progress throughout the entire process, and immediately addressed our questions and concerns. The architectural plans met all of our goals, including functionality of room layout, energy efficiency, and sighting for mountain views and solar panels. The construction phase went smoothly, thanks to their daily expert supervision, and changes to improve the final build were incorporated with alacrity. It was a pleasure to work with the entire Coburn team, and we are extremely happy with our beautiful house - built with best practices, and coming in under budget.

Our home is so beautiful and we had a fabulous experience with the entire design team and also with the construction managers. The process was so creative and the result is something we are very very happy with. Their expertise in all areas of the entitlement, the design and the construction was superior to anyone else we have ever worked with! Excellent experience and outcome!
