If you’re looking for a green builder with great customer service - look no further! We hired Casey and his company to update our 100 year old home. The work included a full rewire of the electrical, updating the plumbing and renovating the old bathroom. We were extremely happy with the work and customer service we received through out the whole process. Richard and Shawn who were on site kept us updated on the daily progress and also kept the job site extremely clean and tidy. They gave us all the information we needed to make informed decisioned and while we were on vacation, accommodated our schedule to check in with us. Casey is alway available should you have questions and even now his team checks in on us time to time to make sure everything is functioning as it should. We highly recommend The Conscious Builder, and will definitely hire them again in the future.

This was the third time we hired Casey and his crew from The Conscious Builder, and we were just as satisfied with the project as we were with the first two! In fact we have hired them again foranother project. They are very transparent with their quotes, including materials receipts with the final invoice and credit you for materials and labour not used. Every night when they leave they clean up and leave the house as it was. I have included a photo of our new cedar siding and of the new custom railing they installed (just because I love it!!).They deliver what they say and do it in the timeframe they promise! The workmanship is top notch! I'd recommend The Conscious Builder for sure!

I recently had my basement re-finished with The Conscious Builder (it had previously been finished years ago, but it needed some changes to work for our family now). Working with Richard (project manager) and Shawn was great. They are both easy to talk to and conscientious about their work. I would not hesitate to work with either of them again. The basement turned out fantastic and is a much more usable space. Despite two major hiccups (leaking cracks in the basement behind previously finished walls), the job was completed on time and we are very please with our new basement.

As a recent purchaser of a home, I was in the need of some renovation services to address some deficiencies that were common to 1960s-era homes. After asking around for some leads, I was referred to The Conscious Builder Inc by a friend. The consultation was very informative and the representative took the time to hear my needs and expectations as well as describe all the options that were available to me. The quotation for services that I received did an excellent job of breaking down the scope of work and cost of materials for each tier of activity (ranging from low to high pricing). It was easy to determine the type of work and associated cost based on the provided scope of work. The logistics and work activities were estimated accurately and the work was performed on time and on budget (this included setup, demolition, preparation, installation, clean up and tear down). Type of work performed: existing hard wood flooring removal, sub floor replacement and re-enforcement, tiling and carpeting with associated painting. I would highly recommend their services and provide repeat business for future renovations.

The Conscious Builder has done several jobs for us on our 120-year-old home. This company is very professional, prepares all the correct paperwork, meets all deadlines and budgets, and is very pleasant to deal with. All crew members are excellent workers and a pleasure to have in the house - they are very skilled, and very neat and tidy.

The conscious builder did a wonderful job finishing our basement. Honest, reliable, courteous, professional, helpful. And they really care about sustainable design and construction.

I hired the conscious builder as he was recommended to me through a friend of mine. The owner, Casey Grey made it a point to meet with me , provide a detailed estimate, timelines and prices. Casey is extremely honest and up front. This contractor hires experienced workers and what was important to me was that at any point of the reno if there was a question or an issue with what they discovered they contacted me to advise me and go through what my options were. The workmanship was extremely well done and I found his team to be effective, left the site clean every day before leaving and they were all extremely polite. My project was large in scope, from tearing down outside covering to re-insulation of exterior walls, windows and doors all changed , to inside walls being knocked, my kitchen being gutted , a support beam installed and full kitchen reno. we were on par for the budget and when there were costs I didn't expect Casey always came by to explain the rationale and we figured out ways to save on other things without sacrificing the expected outcome. I highly recommend the Conscious builder as Casey is not jus there to renovate... he wants to make your house more efficient which in the end saves you money! I was not disappointed and you will not be. I would hire them again for a project of this magnitude you must trust your builder and I trust The conscious builder.

I hired the folks at The Conscious Builder Inc to design and carry out a major kitchen renovation as well as refinishing the pine floors on the ground floor of my house. The cabinets were manufactured using wood harvested from my own property. Also the wood for the ceiling was milled from my own lumber. The job was completed on schedule, and even though a few surprises were found in the 100+ year old house, it was within budget. I am very pleased with the work carried out by Casey and his crew.

Casey and his team did a wonderful job on our passive house standard home. They tackled some of unusual features that I had designed without problem. Good teamwork.

We are the Rachael Project. While narrowing down our options of potential home purchases, I nicknamed this house “the ugly house”. Winter came a few weeks after move-in & we were freezing despite a new furnace. An energy audit revealed extensive heat loss. We interviewed 5 contractors who gave wide ranging solutions & prices. Only Cornelius Grey Construction advised a solution that matched our energy consultant’s. Casey helped us plan a reno to make our home more energy efficient & aesthetic. We wanted an eco-conscious approach to our reno. This wasn’t treated as a special request, it’s how they do business. As challenges developed, we always felt that this team had our best interest at heart. They took the time to problem solve with us & industry experts and learn about new products & proper installation. Doing it right was more important then doing it quick. They were confident in their subcontractors & so were we. Kane was very conscientious of the quality of the work & the impact of the renovation on our daily lives. We had some concerns after our project was completed & paid. They were efficiently addressed this year. Friends told us it will take longer & be more expensive in an older home -- this proved true, but a good contractor will guide you through. We’ve seen the TV shows of bad contractors -- Casey, Kane & Jesse’s work won’t show up there, they treat your home like their home. Now we don’t call her “the ugly house” & we’re warmer in the winter. We’d recommend this team for work on your home.

We hired Cornelis Grey construction to build our custom single family home after having experienced working with Casey during his past life as a foreman with another builder several years ago. That experience taught us that Casey was a thoughtful, passionate, honest and dedicated professional. When we decided to build a new home for our growing family we immediately knew we wanted to work with Casey again and were very happy with the team of professionals that he had assembled to work with him. Casey's passion for environmentally responsible design and construction matched our desire to build an R-2000 home. As with any large scale project there were challenges and obstacles along the way but the team worked through those with professionalism and dedication keeping us informed and involved in the process along the way. Communication is a key aspect of a project of this size and Casey and team were always available to answer questions or just reassure us that everything was under control. Given the opportunity, we would hire the team again... and at some point in the future we probably will!
