After speaking to 4 contractors about our project, we hired Anton at Cypress Hill to remodel 2 bathrooms, and we are so glad we did. Anton is a great listener and communicator, and he took the time to understand our vision for the space and provided flexible options for our budget. He also has a great eye for design elements, and he made some helpful suggestions that really added to the overall look and function of the bathrooms. Anton also works with a team of highly skilled subcontractors, and everyone was professional, courteous, and respectful of my home. They also cleaned up after themselves every day, which was a huge plus. The bathroom remodels were completed on time and within budget, and we are absolutely thrilled with the results. The purpose of my review is to accurately detail the exceptional experience, quality, craftsmanship, and genuine demeanor of Cypress Hill Development and its owner Dan Buie and to highly recommend Cypress Hill Development for your custom home building needs. When my husband and I decided to build our custom home, we turned to Cypress Hill Development and its owner Dan Buie. Dan has an exceptional reputation among home builders in our area, so we wanted to meet with him and see if Cypress Hill was the right fit for us. After our initial meeting, we quickly realized that the answer was a resounding “Yes.” Dan Buie embodies the characteristics of genuine, honest, caring, innovative, not pretentious, and has an astute business background. There are not many home builders out there that can boast such a list of characteristics. Dan listened to what our vision for our home was, took our budget constraints into consideration, and helped us design a custom home that would fit our needs while conforming to our budget and not once encouraging us to exceed it. Dan is not focused on upselling for monetary reward; but rather, Dan is focused on the clients’ wishes and turning their dreams into reality. His reward is building the home his clients always envisioned. If the qualities and demeanor of Dan is not reason enough to use Cypress Hill Development, the gorgeous custom home they built for us should be. With Dan and his architect team, we designed a modern California farmhouse. This style was a new design for Cypress Hill, but they drafted the style perfectly and put our visions down onto paper. The quality building materials, the precise attention to detail, and the exceptional team of craftsmen are the main factors that came together to create our dream home. Having one but not all those elements creates a home that falls short, but having all three in tandem yields a result of perfection. Thank you Dan Buie and the entire Cypress Hill team!! We hired Cypress Hill to do an extensive remodel update to our 1970s Tudor style home. Our suspicions were confirmed as demolition revealed multiple structural compromises from a poorly exicuted 1980s remodel. Cypress quickly revised structural plans and remediated these defects at a marginal cost relative to the overall project. We replaced windows, hardwood flooring, doors, trim, mechanicals, kitchen, all baths, added insulation, plumbing, electric, some slate roofing, gutters, paint and landscaping. Project management was excellent. We feel like we didn't over do it and our vision was achieved if not exceeded. We love our house.

Cypress Hill Development is amazing to work with! I would HIGHLY recommend them. My husband wanted to build our dream home and I was not looking forward to the process. I thought it would be overwhelming and nothing but headaches. I was completely WRONG and it was because of Dan and Todd and the people they employ. It was an EASY process and we ended up with the most beautiful home that was built right, completed early, and on budget. Dan helped us pick out and purchase our lot and then set up a budget and kept us within that budget. He also does an amazing job of creating a selection schedule to keep you on track for all the items you need to pick out. Having a timeline to pick out things over time made it much easier and less stressful. Todd takes over when the house starts being built and does an amazing job getting it all done with all the contractors and guiding us through that process. He is extremely helpful with suggestions and things they have done before that I would never have thought of. The communication is great. The quality is TOP NOTCH. I could not be more proud of the home that Cypress Hill Development built for us.

Dan and Todd did a wonderful job in building our home. They helped us through every single step of the process and were always good about responding to questions. People asked if the process was overwhelming but it was actually very enjoyable thanks to Todd and Dan. Our budget was much more limited than most of their clients but they never made us feel less important. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to build a home!

It has been over two months since we have moved into our new home and could not be happier. We heard goods things about Cypress Hill Development from friends and are glad that we decided to use them.. Dan and Todd were very helpful and engaged in the entire process from assisting us in finding a suitable lot in our target neighborhood to guiding us in terms of making decisions to stay within our budget. Any issues that came up during the process were discussed and resolved very quickly. Having been very involved in the construction process of our new home, I have to say that I was very impressed with the attention to detail both inside and outside of the walls. Our new home is very well built. Dan is an extremely organized individual that really worked with us to manage the costs and stay within our budget. He was always available to offer suggestions and options so that could make informed decisions. It really was a pleasure working with him. The end results were terrific and we have received many compliments on the quality / look of our new home. Should we ever decide to build again, we would definitely use Cypress Hill.

We chose to work with Dan and Cypress Hill over four other local builders when we began the process to build our new home. Building a custom home is a daunting process, especially for a first time builder. Dan’s confidence in his product and calm demeanor throughout the interview (as well as during construction!) process gave us the assurance that Cypress Hill was the right team to build our home. Dan and Todd worked tremendously throughout the process to prove that decision right. Dan and his team did an excellent job of completing the job on time and within budget, both of which were very important to us. As a manager, Dan would always look to under promise and over deliver. I appreciated that very much. Dan also did a great job of communicating with us, especially as the project progressed through the final phases. Todd was an excellent project manager, he added many great suggestions on the layout, fixtures and accent touches that we never would have thought of on our own. We reached out to Dan after we had driven by another one of his homes in the area. The entire process from assisting us in finding a lot, creating our plans to assisting in some of the finishing choices was a great experience. Both Dan and Todd were top notch when it came to communication and helping to keep us within our budget and still creating us the beautiful home we desired. Their attention to detail and quality of their work is what attracted us to Cypress Hill Builders and they delivered on that promise! We are extremely pleased with the home built for us by Cypress Hill. Dan and Todd were willing to listen to our extensive wish list and whenever possible, they made them happen. In addition, some of their suggestions made a big difference in the ultimate end product, e.g., woodworking. Being first-time home builders, there were a number of situations that took us by surprise . . . most of which were out of Dan and Todd's control, e.g., permits, utilities, and some purchasing issues with the subcontractors. So, if this is your first time building, be prepared for delays, etc., We have been in our home for about 1 1/2 years and could not be happier. Although we have every intention of this being our last home, if it was not we would definitely work with Cypress Hill again.

As we were relocating back to the Downers Grove area, we hadn't seriously considered a custom built home until we drove past another Cypress Hill Development project and set up an initial meeting. Dan was extremely professional and helped us realize that it was possible to build our dream home within our budget. We appreciated that he was very organized with a project plan and timeline from which to execute the project and had a straightforward and honest manner for approaching the budgeting process. Dan assisted us throughout the whole process, starting with helping us find a great piece of land, facilitating the design phase, and overseeing the construction of our beautiful home. We had some unique design ideas and wanted something a bit more contemporary. While these were not things the Cypress Hill team had done in their previous projects, they worked with us to find the right solutions to meet our expectations. We have just celebrated the 1st year anniversary of being in our new home and can honestly say we wouldn't have done anything differently. Guests have commented on the high quality and attention to detail that was used in constructing our home. The service we received from the Cypress Hill Development team has been exceptional throughout and following the construction process. We are very happy with our selection of builder and would recommend them to anyone in search of a custom home builder in the western suburbs.
