Dan specializes in unique transformations, creatively updating a 100 year old farmhouse and a 21st century Manhattan loft with the same eye toward solid design and functional grace. Having graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee with a degree in architectural studies, he utilizes his backgrounds in architecture, engineering, and interior design to seamlessly weave the traditional and contemporary. Substance and style meld to create sophisticated, stylish and warm spaces where no detail overshadows another. Dan's meticulous designs do not stop at the front door. As a skilled exterior designer, he renovates the entire property focusing on landscape, hardscape, outbuildings and follies. Balancing the natural and the man-made and framing views from the inside and out, Dan creates spaces that maximize the beauty of the environment. Having worked for several well-established Manhattan designers, he launched Dan Ruhland Designs in 2007. His ability to actively listen to a client's dream translates their vision into a reality, surpassing their expectations.

Dan completely re-designed our family room around a new gas fireplace, with amazing results: built-in cabinets and bookcases, faux fireplace mantle/chimney, paint color scheme, window treatments and furniture. The new room is a comfortable central gathering point, and the design is simultaneously modern and perfectly in sync with our historic home. I should also note that Dan's subcontractors were skilled, patient, and professional. He only works with the best and takes great pride in his results. Expect an inspiring, personalized design with great attention to style and detail.

Dan helped refresh the kitchen in my midcentury modern house. He assessed quickly what I had in mind as the finished product. He presented excellent suggestions on materials, plaster, wall tile, marble countertops and appliances. He's got a great eye for color and pattern. We agreed a timetable and budget and he kept to both. Dan identified the right contractors for the work, coordinated scheduling and kept me updated with their progress daily. Overall, a well-executed job on time and on budget with show-stopping results. I am extremely pleased with his work and would recommend him without reservation.

We are a custom cabinet shop who work with many high end designers and architects. Dan is without a doubt one of the most professional, talented, and capable designers we have ever worked with. More importantly he's a great guy who cares about all the people he works with whether it be the clients or the trade professionals. As craftsmen, we look forward to his jobs because they're interesting, unique, and challenging and the clients are always thrilled with the results. He's a designer with an architect's approach and provides us with accurate and high quality CAD drawings and he's always available to meet in the shop or on job sites. He loves what he does and so do we!

From one profesional to another, Dan is a pleasure to work with. He articulates the project well and can see the results as we talk about the project. If he has to design on the fly, because of site conditions he is very creative. In other words a very good designer. We worked on a mid -century kitchen restoration. A very unique project that had to look like it hadn't been touched by time, but was brought into this century. Dan is a very easy guy to work with. Ilook forward to our next project together. As the owner of a small, artistic lighting company, I have had the opportunity to work with many designers. It is so great when you work with one that not only gets their client and their needs, but also gets your product. Dan is that designer! When he came to us, he had a clear understanding of what his client was looking for and also trusted us and the artistic process. Emails and phone calls were returned immediately and decisions were made quickly. The process flowed smoothly and at the end, all of us were happy with the result! I can not even begin to describe how positive our experience with Dan Ruhland design. His gift for design is timeless and impeccable but his true gift is in the way he was able to translate what each of us wanted for our family home and push us to create an inspiring home that had literally changed our daily lives and our family dynamic. I can not begin to thank Dan and his crew of gifted craftsman/woman. We are a blended family and Dan worked so hard to accommodate all of our needs and wants into a beautiful and functional design that helped us meld as a family.

Dan is not only extraordinarily talented (as you can see from the images of the work he has accomplished) but he is also a great guy to work with! He has been a client of mine for about 10 years now. I supply him with a lot of the plumbing fixtures you see in these gorgeous homes and he is a pleasure! First of all he is VERY organized (which is ESSENTIAL in this industry) but he is also creative, efficient, able to problem solve, patient AND he is able to execute all of his clients requests within a realistic timeline! If you are looking for THE BEST in the industry (literally PERFECTION) he is your guy.

Kommenteret: How deep is the built in? And, where are the cushions from? Thanks!The bench is 24" deep. The cushion inserts were custom made by Lodi Down and Feather. They have a spring / foam center with a down wrap. A local seamstress made the covers.
