Edward Ogosta Architecture is a creative design practice. We create intelligent, quality architecture with a resolute clarity. We believe in making buildings that offer experiential depth. EOA is passionate about bringing inventive thinking and hard work to perfect each project. Our expertise encompasses programming, planning, and design of a wide range of building types, including custom residences, cultural facilities, and creative office interiors. Whether our clients have a modest or substantial project, and are local or international, EOA is dedicated to engaging both the practical objectives and unique opportunities of each commission. Our approach considers every design problem with rigorous conceptual thought, balanced with the pragmatics of program, site, construction, and craft. We work inclusively with our clients: to identify requirements, to address contingencies, to imagine possibilities, to move thoughtfully through a problem, and to discover methods for providing intentioned yet specific solutions to real needs. Our most successful projects have both an openness and specificity, so that change may occur but the fundamental ideas remain intact. We seek buildings that make intuitive sense at every scale, from the broadest notions of site planning, down to the feel of a door lever in one's hand. The office is led by Ed Ogosta, AIA LEED AP, a California licensed architect and second-generation native of Los Angeles. Ed graduated magna cum laude from the University of California at Berkeley with a BA in Architecture, and holds a Master of Architecture degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. My wife Ann and I lost our house and art studios in Juniper Hills, CA. during the "Bobcat" fire of September 2020. We spent seven months in a residence hotel in Palmdale CA. making plans for our next move. We decided to rebuild on our original site of ten acres in Juniper Hills and began a search for a contemporary architect to design a new home structure with two large north facing art studios. Searching on the internet, we located the website of architect Edward Ogosta. The Ogosta designs are stunning and unique...especially the "Four Eyes"project in a rural setting. We contacted Ed directly and began an exciting and creative process of formulating a schematic design that fulfilled our needs for living space, and creating our sculptures and paintings! Ed and his assistant Luis, put enormous energy and time into our project and made us feel comfortable in the decision process that led to the completed design. Our highest recommendations to the Ogosta Architectural office for all aspects of contemporary design!

My wife Ann and I established art studios in 1996, in beautiful Juniper Hills, above Palmdale and Lancaster. In September of 2020, the "Bobcat" fire swept thru the area and totally destroyed our house and studios. We decided to rebuild on site, and began to search for interesting architects to design a new house with two large art studios. We searched the internet and came across photographs of the designs by Los Angeles architect Edward Ogosta. We were immediately stunned by the Ogosta designs...especially the"Four Eyes" project! The uniqueness of his daring vision encouraged us to contact him at his Holmes Bakery office. Edward visited our fire site and we exchanged ideas of a house that would blend into the beauty of the mountains of the high desert area. We were very impressed with the high energy and creativity of Ed and his staff to design a unique home and we approved the schematic design set. Unfortunately, we discovered that the area of our site has a rapidly vanishing water table...a loss of over 50% in the past year. This information, and the fact that we are in our mid eighties, convinced us to simply purchase a home in Palmdale, and continue our art careers on a smaller scale. Working with Ed and Luis was great experience, and we highly recommend Edward Ogosta as an architect with unlimited vision and creative energy who can work with clients in a very comfortable atmosphere. The attention to detail in his work and architecture is quite extraordinary. I wanted something modern and luxurious yet also honest and well-designed for my 3,500 sq ft. home gut remodel. I had looked at and talked to many architects in SoCal, but as soon as I got off the phone with Ed I knew he was going to be the one. Many developers in the LA area go over-the-top (not in a good way) when choosing fixtures and finishes; the spaces Ed designed had a much more refined, tasteful, and quietly luxurious feel that could be fully utilized every day. What I loved was that he was able to take a lot of my inspiration photos and feedback and incorporate it, making it both his own trademark design and as well as my own home. Ed was also hands on in the bidding and construction process giving feedback to the contractor as well as setting standards. I now have a beautiful open kitchen clad in white oak slats, a creamy stone master bath with skylight and a glowing ambiance, and most importantly, a cohesively designed place I can properly call home.

I can honestly say the creative process and collaboration with Ed Ogosta was the best I have ever experienced. Ed is a cerebral, pragmatic, and thoughtful professional. Every decision he applies to his designs are well vetted and meticulous. My wife and I enjoyed every interaction with Ed and we would marvel at his design aesthetic, and his seemingly boundless institutional knowledge in his craft. We engaged Ed to do a major kitchen and multiple bathroom/bedroom remodel of our 1930 Mediterranean style house. Ed was outstanding. Although his personal vibe is cool and contemporary, Ed completely got us and what we wanted to achieve in our project, which was a traditional feel that blends easily into our old house. Ed listened carefully, thought deeply and worked collaboratively with us to achieve a perfect result. Probably the best compliment we can pay is that nearly three years later, we spend much of our time in our new/old kitchen and continue to love everything about it.

After viewing numerous websites searching for an architect whose projects reflect my aesthetic and style, I contacted Edward Ogosta Architecture - Culver City, CA. After our first meeting I was confident that he understood my vision for a major remodel and modernization of my outdated Los Angeles area home. His preliminary designs were innovative, clean and had a beautiful aesthetic. The design process was creative and thorough, down to minute details including recommendations for door handles, hardware, flooring, and light fixtures. As this remodel project progressed, Ed was attentive and continued to meet periodically with our builder whenever questions arose. The outcome of this project far exceeded my original vision and our home is a beautiful showplace! Highly recommended.

We are the owners of the Corner Pocket House in Manhattan Beach, and wholeheartedly, enthusiastically recommend Edward Ogosta Architecture. Ed and his team are professional, creative, detail-oriented, full of ideas, communicative, and involved from beginning to end. Our house began as an aging bungalow with tricky site constraints that was too cramped for our family. Ed’s design successfully expanded and transformed it into a completely brand new house—modern, spacious, light-filled, open, and beautiful. We left every single design decision to Ed, down to the doorknobs and furnishings, and are overjoyed at the results. The design process was smooth and construction was drama-free. Our family life in the house is now completely different and we are constantly entertaining in the amazing living/dining/kitchen space which freely opens to the patio. The house has already won two prestigious design awards from the American Institute of Architects (which is like an Academy Award for architecture), including the highest AIA award in the South Bay—something we never would have dreamed possible when we began this process. We can't recommend this architect highly enough. If you like contemporary architecture and want the best person in LA for the job, look no further: Ed is a rising star.

I hired Ed to design a second-story master suite addition to my house, which was originally built in the 1930s. He did a beautiful job and was very competitively priced. I had three separate contractors tell me his were the best, most detailed plans they'd ever seen, which enabled them to give more accurate bids. Additionally, the design is gorgeous - the addition (on which construction is 90% complete) looks like it was part of the original house. He was very careful not to detract from the existing curb appeal/roofline. Plus, Ed is great to work with. He's funny, smart, responsive, and he's been wonderful about staying engaged with the project. He routinely stops by the job site to ensure the construction work is actually proceeding according to his drawings. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
