We are currently close to completing construction drawings with Luke and his team from eme design. We chose Luke for many reasons but his genuine interest in us and our project gave us the confidence to engage eme. Luke has taken our initial needs, wants and ideas beyond our imaginings, and yet when we look at his design it still includes the essence of our original project brief. A truly collaborative approach. It’s been an exciting and enjoyable journey so far.

eme design designed & oversaw the construction of a new house for me. Throughout this process they were supportive, responsive, communicated well & were a pleasure to work with. Their experience & empathy allowed them to intuit ideas & solutions that suited me & my current lifestyle, but which also support an ethical & sustainable approach to living in the future. The design created by eme was delightful, displaying sensitivity to historical & geographical factors, the house fitting in well to the small street in my inner suburb & providing a creative, sustainable & eye-catching take on the weatherboard worker's cottage that it replaced. Based on an initial brief of an energy efficient house on a tight block with enough space for a highly productive garden, it is a lovely house to live in, skillfully designed in such a way that there is a natural flow from one part of the house to another & no wasted space. Through the use of carefully placed windows, sloping eaves & an internal rendered brick wall that absorbs the heat from the winter sun, the house is naturally cool in summer & warm in winter with lots of natural light coming in through windows that frame a range of views of the outside world. The budget was tight but adhered to.
