Greg Wallace / Sticks and Stones had completed a huge remodel and finish work on my daughter's home. A year later, in 2021, I bought a small 5-room fixer upper across the road from her. In the 11th hour, with only two months to plan and strategize, Greg agreed to take on my project, and my limited budget, which included gutting two rooms completely and one room partially. And there were hidden problems, like water damage behind the walls. Greg and his team are wonderful, kind human beings. They brought a sense of calm to every aspect of my project, which helped me roll with the punches with some ease. Greg completely understood and respected the simplicity of my aesthetic while at the same time the precise work I required from windows to walls to floors to doors to trim work and everything in between. He worked with me throughout the design and remodel to create a beautiful and sensible home that allows me to age in place. The collaboration and communication with Greg and his entire team, including the painter, plumber, and electrician, was stellar. Ten months after completion of my remodel, I continue to be so grateful that Greg agreed to work with me.

I hired Sticks and Stones Construction for building a small house / cabin in Rochester, VT. Greg and team were willing to work with my goal of incorporating a timber frame main room with 'stick built' bedroom, bath, and hallway. The planning process was very collaborative with each side sharing ideas on all aspects of the build; from flooring, heating, lighting, etc. Greg was very open in when a decision would impact time and/or budget on the project. Although building a house can be stressful at times given the large amount of decisions, I really enjoyed working with Greg in all stages of the building process. The end result exceeded expectations. We LOVE our cabin. The construction, and all finishing details are perfect. The cabin is very energy efficient and has a great 'homey' feel. My family and I love it, and wouldn't change anything. If/when we decide to have any additional work done in VT, we would surely go with Sticks and Stones. I recommend them with no reservations.

If you are looking for top quality construction, and are interested in building a home AND a relationship, with professionals who care a lot (and know a lot) about craftsmanship and customer satisfaction, this is the team you want. They are trustworthy, sincere, and of course--- darn good builders!! Our project was not straight forward, but Greg, David and Tucker always remained flexible, helpful, responsive and engaged... and believe me, we were not the easiest customers :-) We enjoyed the process, and of course, the product! You will too.

Greg Wallace is terrific as sizing up a project to know the potential opportunities and risks. I worked with Greg on the potential purchase of a complicated house and his insight was invaluable. After vetting five contractors, I hired Greg for these planning services. He very quickly understood the structural and aesthetic issues. He also understood my goals and constraints. Greg works with a number of subcontractors as appropriate to a project so he can manage it all for the client. Greg brought his mature and extensive contracting experience to problem solve what he saw in this house. He is also an excellent communicator, which I so appreciated! Sticks and Stones is a gem of a resource. Greg saved me substantial cost and complexity and I would not hesitate to use him for contractor services. I really cannot recommend him highly enough.

We have had the opportunity to work with Sticks & Stones on recent projects in the Montpelier/Central Vermont area. Greg is a great guy to work with and his renovation work is outstanding. It is apparent that he is in-tune with his customer's wants and needs. He believes in quality, energy-efficient products and expects those products to work just as hard as he does.

Working with Greg Wallace as general contractor in the building of our "tiny" (480 sq. ft.) home was a very pleasant experience. His kind, mild, and patient demeanor facilitated communication in a project designed by my husband and myself while we resided 1600 miles away. Greg listened and executed what we wanted, along with providing knowledgeable advice when needed. The project involved a lot of small detail, consensus, and collaboration, and we were pleased with the process, the advice, the excellent workmanship, and the final results.

Sticks and Stones did a major update of the exterior of my house, replacing rotten clapboards, other siding, trim and other boards; replacing four windows; painting all trim, window frames (including storms and screens) and doors; and caulking all storm windows. For me, the most important thing in working with someone is the quality of communication. Greg excelled at this; he kept me in the loop of scheduling, answered all questions thoroughly, and addressed any issues promptly. He showed up when he said he would; on the occasions when this was not possible, he either called or emailed in a timely manner. The quality of the work was excellent and was completed in the agreed-upon time frame. Greg was a pleasure to work with.

I employed Sticks and Stones for several jobs over a few years at my house, the oldest part of which dates to the 1840s. Their work for me included insulating and replacing clapboard on most of the exterior, new gutters (included a buried drain), new attachments for and repair of storm windows, painting, etc. All of the work was explained in advance, carefully and expertly done, with lots of consultation and few avoidable surprises. I am very happy with the look of the finished work. The price was steep but I believe in paying well for quality and I am convinced so far that the work done was worth the expense and that it will last for decades.

Greg Wallace and the crew from Sticks and Stones do high quality, exceptional, and meticulous work. They are also the friendliest and most accommodating people I have had the pleasure to work with. I have had them do a partial remodeling of my kitchen, the installation of a ground floor bathroom, and the replacement of windows. Since this house was built at the turn of the last century, fitting updates while keeping the character of the house can be a challenge. Greg and his crew did an excellent job. I am very happy with their work

Greg Wallace is a detail oriented, well organized builder. I would trust him with any building plan short of the Pentagon. He built a wonderful shed for me. Great to work with.

Greg did a major renovation on my 1974 ranch house. He was fantastic. The work was top notch--careful, intelligent, clean. When he thought something could be done more economically, he told me. He's SMART and thoughtful and also he's got great taste. I trusted his sensibilities. He was also easy to LIVE with, which is, essentially, what happens during a home renovation. He's just a lovely person.
