Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, our architects draw from numerous historical styles, including English Arts and Crafts, Tuscan, and Neoclassical. We worked with John Malick and Associates to develop our home in the Santa Lucia Preserve near Carmel. The result is a highly detailed, classic Tuscan country home and guest house, set in a fabulous natural setting. The attention to detail that they provided ensured that our home is not only functional, beautiful, and comfortable, but memorable. I highly recommend them to anyone searching for a skilled Architect.

Kathy Best Design

I have worked on several projects with John Malick & Associates as interior designer. The architects at JMA are professional, insightful, creative, and thorough. They draw inspiration from classical design and address present-day requirements giving the client a unique and truly special, crafted home. When working with JMA, the design process is collaborative and efficient. I have attached two photos of a recent project which we worked together on finishes and layout. Kathy Best Design added lighting, window treatments, furnishings, and furniture to the home, inspired by the architecture, carefully tailored to the client's needs and wishes. I would highly recommend John Malick & Associates to design your classic home or renovation.

We have engaged John Malick and Associates to design five houses for us, including new construction and major remodeling: 1. An award – winning Arts and Crafts residence in Piedmont, CA. (1995 ). 2. & 3. Classic homes in the Tahoe tradition ( connected by a covered bridge) created for skiing and lake enjoyment in the Sierra Mountains, CA. (1989 & 2001). 4. A West Indies colonial home on a private island in the Caribbean. 5. A Wine country " farmhouse" in Sonoma, CA. (2013). All results have been outstanding architecturally and sound investments financially. We credit his creative genius, his enthusiasm for a challenge, and his natural ability to build great relationships with contractors, home owners, and planning commissioners. Best of all, ideas explode in John's head like popcorn making the whole process a tantalizing adventure.

I am a San Francisco Bay Area location scout and I primarily find the homes that Pottery Barn and Williams Sonoma use to shoot their catalogs in. I speak with so many architects on a regular basis and I have the unique opportunity to visit so many of their projects. Greg Klein and John Malick of John Malick & Associates are always so kind and approachable and every house we have been in of theirs has been impeccable, solid and absolutely beautiful. We are big, big fans.

John Malick is an outstanding architect. He has an incredible gift for spacial planning and overall design. His work is truly genius as he managed to transform our 1930's house into a family-friendly Mediterranean dream home. He and his associates are very easy to work with and very accommodating. This is the second time my family has used John Malick and we would hire him for a third project!

Ken and I hired John Malick to design a new kitchen, office, and powder room for us on the first floor of our home. His associate, Cecilia Martinez, actually performed the work on the plans, in addition to taking me shopping for fixtures, hardware, and other materials-enjoyable excursions all. John and Cecilia met with us many times over the course of the job, always showing respect, patience, and willingness to answer our questions and concerns. Their fees were reasonable and fair. They are hard working with a consistent, "can-do", optimistic spirit. In fact, we liked having them around. Most of all, the finished result is spectacular! John Malick & Associates worked closely with us to completely redesign two floors of our 1920s home including a kitchen, dining room, two family rooms, a bedroom, and two baths. We chose Malick because of their experience with old homes and their sensitivity to retaining historic features while incorporating modern elements. Malick provided excellent services through the entire process of design, permitting, bidding, and building. We would not hesitate to recommend them, and in fact we are working with them again on a new project.
