Kevin Mauseth

Let me first say we have not started on our construction yet, but I've fallen in love with my designer already. He seems to know exactly what I want. I was referred to Kevin Mauseth by a very rude person who let me know upfront that he didn't have time for my small project. The rude guy assumed when I said "add on" that it was small like closing in a carport for $10,000. What he didn't hear was my goal to completely hull my house and start over with a starting budget of $100,000. At that point, I'd made so many calls asking for help I don't remember who gave me the referral to contact Mr. Kevin. Most everyone made me feel as if I'd be wasting their time except for Mr. Kevin. He was at my mess of a house two counties over the next week and saw my living desperation. He was so professional and respectful and hopeful. He assured me that he could make my home better. There was nothing in its current state that couldn't be improved. Can I just add his language and vocabulary is just beautiful. You can swim in his words. My husband has given me budget for our little "add on" of $100,000. I knew I needed interior/exterior guidance from start to finish, and I needed a designer willing to be hands on, even intrusive, with me until it is time to move back in. I'm so glad I connected with Mr. Kevin. One week later after our home visit, we're taking home our floor plan. In another week, we will be discussing specific room design & finishing. I'm hoping my rooms he design will be on Houzz.

Kevin worked with us during a major renovation of our home several years ago. We'd met with several designers prior to meeting with Kevin and were not satisfied. All others tried to tell us what we wanted to see in the design of our house. Kevin was the first to spend time asking us about ourselves, our lives and how we lived in our house. Three years later the result is spectacular. Every choice he helped us make worked for our style, was integrated into our overall design and worked for both our daily and entertaining lives. I would use no one else!

We couldn't be more thrilled about the way our kitchen turned out! Kevin was such a joy to work with and made what could have been a stressful process so much fun! He is so talented and we will definitely be using him in the future for more projects and renovations!

We are so pleased with the results of our new bathroom space and Kevin made the design process so easy. He listened to our needs and wants and incorporated our wishes into his design. If there were concerns during the construction phase, Kevin was there immediately to consult with the contractor to ensure the plan and design were on track. Kevin's experience, and keen eye for design, was invaluable during this project. We love our new bathroom space and could not have been more pleased with the final results and the help we received from Kevin during this project.

I purchased a 1930s Stucco Bungalow in an established historic district in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, spring of 2014. It had received little care or updating in nearly 30 years, so needless to say, restoring and modifying the home was a huge undertaking. Luckily, I had been introduced to Kevin Mauseth by a work colleague. Kevin's professional training, his extensive experiences with designing and decorating new, traditional, and older homes, and his own creativity and taste was the source of all the positive experiences I had creating a wonderful home that is now full of character, comfort, and charm. When Kevin walked into the house just after it was purchased, he said, "Great buy. This will be a wonderful home." That of course boosted my own confidence and excitement for working with such a gifted designer. Every room has been affected by Kevin's work, including structural, cosmetic, and decorator details including furnishings and art pieces. All the while, the home is completely "me". Kevin's interest and tenacity with making sure my functional and aesthetic needs were met guided all of his suggestions and decisions. Of particular note is my new laundry room, adjacent hall, and kitchen. The laundry was originally done on a back porch. The small galley kitchen had three entrance ways. The "hall" was actually a breakfast nook that was less than a foot from the formal dining space. The breakfast nook is now a great laundry room. The hallway is now a short galley way that allows the house to be more open, providing a great sight-line from the front of the house to the back without compromising any of the 1930s traditional look. Visitors swear that those combined spaces are original to the house. The kitchen is perhaps the most functional of any of its size I have ever seen, and the small porch has been annexed to provide space for my refrigerator, wine chiller, garbage can, and some additional storage. Additionally, I always wanted an emerald green den- cozy, inviting, personal. The room is all tied together beautifully with a rug Kevin selected and a custom made huge ottoman he designed using a kilim rug and my teak breakfast table that I had out grown, but could not part with. What a great idea, and there is of course no other like it! Kevin was instrumental in my decision of contractors as well. He worked extremely well with my contractor and each sub-contractor. The entire restoration, modification, and decorating budget was carefully put together. During the entire project, I was made aware of the budget balances every day, as well as any changes, overages, delivery delays, etc. The entire project came in under budget. Every deadline was met. Last minute ideas on my part were met with open ears and clear advice on how best to fully consider each idea. I have and will continue to recommend Kevin Mauseth to any and all acquaintances regarding any type of design project. From interior and exterior architecture, furniture and decor, to outside spaces, and historic restorations, I am most impressed with Kevin's knowledge and taste, his ability to work with others, to bring so many elements together to met my needs and create something unique and special. I could not recommend him more highly.

Kevin was a fantastic designer for our kitchen renovation. He translated our vision into initial drawings and then coordinated the full architectural drawings. He also introduced us to our contractor and we had a great working relationship. By listening to us and studying our inspiration images, Kevin was able to narrow down the many different materials at Anderson's and outside providers to the options he thought we would like. He would present us with three or four choices (backsplash, granite, brick floors) and we would choose our favorites. This turned an overwhelming process into a manageable tasks. He has a great eye for color and details. He also knows the latest trends and where to find them.

We recently completed a project in our home and Kevin was in charge of design and overseeing the finished project. His ability to communicate with his client and to listen and understand their needs was exceptional. He is a talented designer and very detail oriented. He reviewed the project all during the construction and called often to up date on future work as needed. All concerns were addressed immediately. Kevin transformed our tired 1970's home into a lovely, open and comfortable modern living space. Our intention was to remodel the kitchen area, open up a wall and spruce up the adjacent living and dining room. Kevin's impressive interview skills gleaned the information from us he needed to design a space that meets our needs perfectly. His experience, vision, and endless ideas were amazing! As a result, our kitchen turned out to be a whole house remodel with the exception of two bathrooms. I now have a kitchen with an eating bar, a pantry, built in appliances, more counter and cupboard space, an open venue to the dining and living rooms, a remodeled fireplace with a TV area and a flow that works beautifully for a family and entertaining. Kevin's suggestions for color, materials and product ranging from cabinets, lighting, granite, sink, flooring, tile, paint etc., were spot on. He also assisted in selecting all new furnishings which really brought things together. Kevin was very easy to work with, responsive to questions and concerns, returned calls quickly, and kept us well informed throughout the process He was always professional, on time, met deadlines, and pleasant. We couldn't have been more pleased with our experience and gladly give him the highest recommendation. And...we will be calling him when it is time to do those bathrooms!
