KMID is a full service design firm specializing in high end residential interiors. We design understated yet bold spaces that are tailored to incorporate the demands of family living while maintaining a timeless appeal. Our designs don’t shout for attention rather they reveal themselves over time. KMID was founded by owner and principal designer Kate Maloney Albiani. With a background in business marketing, Kate followed her passion into the world of interiors in 2003. As her business quickly grew she realized the value of keeping clients informed throughout the design process. Her transparent approach and attention to detail has gained her the trust of countless New England families. At KMID we believe that good design is an organic process between the design team and the clients who know what they love. Our creative process stems from an open line of communication with our clients about the function of each space as well as the look, feel and overall vibe they are hoping to achieve. Our goal is to create rooms that are just as beautiful to look at as they are comfortable to live in. For over ten years now many families have chosen to work with us for our professionalism as well as our youthful spin on balancing form with function. Recognized for our expertise by clients and industry peers, KMID has been featured in the Boston Junior League Show house and publications such as Design New England, New England Home Magazine, Boston Home and Boston Globe Magazine.

We've worked with Kate and her team on a few occasions, including updates to our family room, master bedroom/bathroom, and mudroom. We're so happy with the final outcome and how Kate & Alison were able to integrate new pieces with items we already own. They are practical, patient, & fun to work with! We will definitely look to KMID for our next design project!

Kate & Thiara worked with us on a significant kitchen, family room, dining room, foyer and mudroom renovations. We absolutely LOVE their work, including my husband, who was initially very anxious about the change. They quickly learned our style and preferences; their recommendations exceeded our expectations! Their recommendations pushed out of our "comfort zone" and we love the way it all came together! We get so many compliments on our light fixtures, colors, sectional, tile, etc. everyone loves the final product. We are continuing to use them for "small projects" and I will definitely use them for my next re-design. I highly recommend them!

Working with Kate and her team was a stress free experience. She came to my home, took charge and was able to help me in so many ways. She not only redesigned a difficult space in my home, she helped me make small changes in many of my other rooms that made a huge impact. Kate and her team are organized, professional, and have a great sense of style. I never would have been able to design my home in the same way. I love coming home now. It is so inviting, warm, and cozy. My favorite quote from Kate is, "A home should feel collected," no one should walk in and feel like a designer was there. I highly recommend KMID. I have worked with other designers in the past and Kate and her team are the BEST!

We loved working with KMID on furnishing our newly purchased home. KMID took the time to get to know us, iterated through the design to find something we loved, and then took care of all the details from ordering to installation. It was a super easy and fun process, and we continue to work with KMID on additional projects in our house.

Kate and her team helped me put together a finished look in my condo. Having recently married at the time, we were also marrying our furniture and tastes. She was able to work with what I had and suggest placement. She also supplied the most beautiful curtains and pillows for a finished look and the gentleman who installed the curtains was a true gem. Furniture layout suggestions that I used over time (couldn't move to quickly with my husband's fear of change) and she found chairs to match my custom dining table. She was patient with us and ended up transforming our condo into a home that we are proud of.

I have worked with Kate Maloney and her team over the last 10 years as a professional mural painter and as a provider of custom made pillows & cushions. Kate is amazingly professional, respectful to both her clients and her vendor partners. I hired Kate to makeover my new living space - living, dining and kitchen. I had never worked with a design firm before and decided on KMID because Kate was such a breath of fresh air. I was looking for someone who could help make my space eclectic and cool while still being functional and easy. Kate quickly paired me up perfectly with Thiara from her team, who is an absolute style inspiration. Kate and Thiara were amazing to work with! The experience was very collaborative. Kate and Thiara visited the space and we had a consultation about my thoughts, preferences and budget. A couple weeks later they came back with a design that optimized the layout, incorporated my existing pieces, and added a tremendous mix of unique pieces, fun prints and bold colors. With the proposal and the samples provided, I was able to envision the new space. We discussed each piece individually and as part of the whole so I could really focus on where I wanted to invest. From there we made some tweaks so that the finished space truly feels like it represents me with its mix of vintage pieces, unique lighting and eclectic prints and textures. I am absolutely thrilled with my new home! It is even more than I hoped for! I would not hesitate to engage with KMID in the future or to recommend their services to others. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
