We love our new home! Thank you Lateral Building Design. The house was skillfully designed by Lateral Building Design (LBD) and built by Brownhill Homes, producing a home with quality materials and workmanship. This was our first time building and the team at Lateral Building Design guided us through the designing and permit process, with care and consideration, always available to assist with our queries or concerns. All of our design requirements were included, plus some well thought out additions. LBD turned our rough ideas into a beautifully designed home. The house is functional and comfortable, plus the feature design elements contribute to making the house a joy to live in. When the permit process required amendment to plans, Lateral Building Design was able to satisfy Council’s requirements whilst always producing a design we were happy with. Thank you to the team at LBD for designing our home. We could not be any happier with the result. We have no hesitation in recommending Lateral Building Design.

Lbd did the plans for my extension, deck and pergola. They gave me heaps of ideas and really talked me through the permit process. They helped me work out which design would suit me best and the plans were done on time as promised. Totally recommend them.

We engaged LBD for a simple verandah structure for our existing deck. We were assigned a junior employee who made numerous errors such as incorrect timber specification, incorrect centres, incorrect north direction as examples. We had to constantly oversee the work to check for errors. It was extremely frustrating with lack of clear communication on the process and in getting errors corrected in a timely manner. I would not recommend LBD for building design work. We also have communicated our frustrations to LBD in writing and verbal form and encourage them to take on board our experience and review there practice if they wish to do so.

We are very sorry to hear this but thank you for the information about your experience. This is not the norm for us at all and we have many systems in place for all designers hence our 95% success rate.

We do have students & junior designers at LBD to help them with their studies, & learn & grow. Some work part time as well & we accept this can cause delays, although we are particularly careful when allocating projects as a result. Preliminary designs & concepts are always issued as DRAFTS until all internal checks have been completed.

Regardless, your feedback has been passed on to the design team and actioned accordingly to make further improvements in our processes. Thank you.

We did a major renovation to our home that was over 20 years old. Unfortunately the builder of the existing home did not always follow the plans. We didnt know this until the roof or plaster was removed as part of the new renovation. Thank goodness for lateral building design. They stepped in, met our builder on site, changed the plans quickly where needed and got them approved so the Reno continued with every little delay. They didn't charge us any extra and where very helpful. Totally recommend the business and the team.

Sad to say they assigned a junior to our project which has lead to a very poor result. Missing drains, poor design, missing beams, incorrect specs, poor brick design and so on. It has led to a very time consuming repair and double check every step of the way for our builder and ourselves. On a positive note they were timely and generally responsive on fixing the problems as they were identified.

We were pleased that our discussions with the builder revealed no major problems nor delays from his perspective. Occasionally with renovations and not being able to see beneath the cladding, there can be some surprises to attend to. It's also pleasing you felt they were done in a timely and responsive manner.

Whilst the staff member has moved on we are continually reviewing our training and systems for less experienced staff as well the procedures for senior staff when checking their work. We do believe this accounts for our success with permit applications.

We sincerely hope you are happy with the renovation.

We have recently purchased our new first home and wanted to build a large deck onto it. Not having any experience in this prior, the thought of dealing with council/building permissions and designers was a little daunting. We took on Lateral Building Design as a company that could deal with the entire project as well as giving us trustworthy reliable guidance throughout. The team at LBD certainly did this and they liaised with our builder and the building inspector brilliantly. We are very thankful to now have our fully completed and beautiful deck built offering us the much needed space we required. We would happy recommend LBD to anyone and everyone. Dealing directly with the owners Donna & John when needed was a real bonus as it made us feel confident in our decision.

Lateral have assisted my building and development company with many projects, all of which have had a common thread. Excellent results delivered on time at a reasonable cost. John and his team produce excellent designs and are experts at navigating the town planning mine field. They are thoroughly professional and always contactable.
