Lindsay MacRae Interiors is an award-winning full-service interior design firm based in Manhattan. Inspired by her past mentors, Lindsay’s design aesthetic is equal parts modern and traditional. She takes a casual approach to design and strives to create spaces that make her clients smile. By carefully mixing styles and curating pieces that have special meaning to the homeowner, Lindsay creates homes that are beautiful, personal, and livable. An Ohio native, Lindsay graduated from the University of Cincinnati's top-ranked School of Architecture and Interior Design. She is an NCIDQ certificate holder, a member of ASID, and holds a New York State license as a Certified Interior Designer. She credits her technical skills and attention to detail to her previous experience working for renowned architects and design firms such as Robert A.M. Stern, Marc-Michaels Interior Design, and Gensler. After more than ten years in the industry, Lindsay opened her own firm in 2013. Her work has been featured in various print and online publications and she was recently named a “Rising Star” by New York Cottages and Gardens. Prior to starting her design career, Lindsay spent over ten years performing for the Walt Disney World Company in Orlando, FL. Today she resides with her husband on the Upper West Side. When she's not designing, Lindsay can be found training for the NYC marathon with her Jack Russell Terrier, Pork Chop. A longtime animal advocate, Lindsay donates both time and a portion of LMI's proceeds to various animal rescue organizations.

We hired Lindsay to decorate our seven bedroom home from top to bottom and are almost done with the process. Lindsay truly has excellent taste. Plus she is an absolute pleasure to work with -- really talented, flexible, responsive, resourceful, and respectful of our budget. She is a true professional -- whenever there is a small bump in the road (inevitable in such a large project) Lindsay bends over backwards to get things right. She also has relationships with contractors and has managed to get all of the work complete while our family has been on vacation. Our home is really beautiful and we are so grateful!

I worked with Lindsay on designing our living room. Lindsay first worked on planning out the space and offered several recommendations and layouts of the best use of the space. She listened to my ideas on decor and vibe and recommended pieces to fit into this design aesthetic. She normally takes on much larger projects with a larger budget, and I know mine was one of the smaller projects she was working on. Nonetheless, she made sure to be attentive and responsive, while still trying to keep my budget in mind. During install day, Lindsay handled absolutely everything. I came home and was so surprised to see it complete! I was so happy with the end result, I almost couldn't believe it was the same space! It came together better than I imagined and I am so excited to have a living room which perfectly captured the look I was going for! Lindsay has an incredible eye, and great taste. I highly recommend her.

My husband and I spent last night just sitting in awe of the nursery that Lindsay helped us create for our daughter. I finally can honestly say that I can't wait to spend time with our daughter in there when she arrives next month. My husband and I both work long hours and needed help getting a room ready for our daughter. We knew that our friend, Lindsay, was the right person for the job. As a designer myself, I had a specific design style in mind for the room. I sent Lindsay an inspiration photo and she created the perfect room for us. We were short on storage so Lindsay designed a wall of built-in storage with a window seat. She also selected the wallpaper, paint colors, lighting, furniture, Roman shade, rug, and art. Even though she is in New York and we live in Houston, we were able to finalize the design over Pinterest, emails, and two Skype calls. Lindsay was able to provide detailed design drawings and communicate with our local installers to make sure everything was just right. She flew to Houston to help install the room and add the finishing details so we could have our room ready for our baby shower. Thanks, L.B.!!

As recent city transplants, my husband and I were overwhelmed at the thought of furnishing a house, much less furnishing the space in an aesthetically pleasing and functional way. We turned to Lindsay for some assistance, and it has been such a pleasure working with her. When it came time to host our first Thanksgiving for 20 people, I realized we felt like our house was ready for that, thanks to Lindsay. I am so happy with how the house looks, but I'm also so impressed with how functional the space is. She thought of everything! We love the gallery wall she designed, how all of the furniture, rugs and accessories coordinate so well without being too matchy-matchy, and the overall flow she's created with the furniture layout. We are looking forward to working with her on projects in the future. We can't thank Lindsay enough for having the vision and then executing it so well. We think she deserves her own show on HGTV.

I can't say enough good things about working with Lindsay. I hired her two years ago to renovate our master bedroom and bathroom. I hired her again this year to update our living and dining rooms. She did a great job and we continue to get compliments anytime we have company. Our friends are all surprised at how nice our home is. A few things stood out to me while working with Lindsay: 1. Lindsay was always professional and a pleasure to work with. 2. I was always presented with options. I never felt like i had to do something a certain way. If I didn't like the options, Lindsay would go back and find other ideas. She really wanted us to love the new designs. 3. Lindsay gave us the option to use our own contractors and was happy to work with them on the renovations. If we move I will hire Lindsay again without giving it a second thought.

Lindsay and her team are top notch. We moved to a new apartment earlier this year. We had no idea where to start. After looking through Houzz for a couple of months, we thought Lindsay's style was a great match for us. Her designs felt sophisticated but not too stuffy. We met Lindsay during our initial consultation and were drawn to her warm personality. She was very thorough and took her time walking through our home with us, paying attention to our needs. We decided to hire her and are so glad we did. Lindsay was very helpful in guiding us through design decisions, colors, furniture placement, drapery, and even helped us find new artwork for our walls. She took care of everything so the process was very easy for us. We were able to sit back and let her handle everything. I trusted her ability to understand our needs and make our home beautiful. She exceeded our expectations and we are so happy in our newly designed home.

I had a wonderful experience working with Lindsay. She has amazing taste and a real eye for design. Not only did she deliver what I asked for but she introduced me to things I didn't even know I wanted. I sat back and let her handle all purchases and deliveries. She had a person for everything - from installing light fixtures to hanging artwork. She even picked out new books and things to put on my shelves. The final design was better than I had imagined it would be. I would absolutely work with her again in the future.

I had a fantastic experience working with Lindsay on an extensive remodel of the living room, dining room, entry hall, and powder room of my apartment. From a nearly-clean slate, Lindsay reimagined these rooms to create a space that's as functional as it is gorgeous. I could not be happier with Lindsay's designs and the results of her meticulous work. Lindsay is patient, professional, and extremely organized, and she was very mindful of my budget and vision. Her taste is impeccable, and I felt very comfortable trusting her instincts when it came to making decisions throughout the project. She worked seamlessly with my contractor to ensure that the remodel was finished within the time frame we had agreed upon. I came home from vacation last week to a beautiful space that was perfect down to every detail. I'm still walking around in awe that I actually live in this lovely home! I'm really looking forward to working with Lindsay again.

I can't believe I get to live here! For the longest time I wanted to renovate our home but the process seemed too daunting. Thankfully a friend recommended Lindsay. Now I just wish we hadn't waited so long! Lindsay and Jillian were great to work with. We had an initial meeting where they got to know my husband and me, our tastes, needs and budget. From then on Lindsay pretty much handled everything. She found and managed the contractor - a huge value given the scope of the work. She provided full designs for our living room, kitchen, dining room, kids' rooms and the master bedroom. She was good at incorporating our feedback but also pushing us to try new things. A lot of the furniture was custom which made things a little nerve-wracking as we couldn't see them in advance, but our trust in Lindsay paid off as it all looks great. I highly recommend using Lindsay. She's has refined taste, a professional approach and was truly enjoyable to work with.

In working with Designers in the past the two constants I found were poor communication (e.g., having my emails/phone calls go unanswered) and being treated as a small fish in a big pond, not due to budget - but Designers being too focused on marketing themselves rather than servicing their customers. When it came time to re-do my living room, I did a great deal of diligence to find just the right individual to work with. I can honestly say, Lindsay MacRae is that person. Lindsay is extremely communicative, treats clients with a sense of urgency, and takes the time to understand your design aesthetic. The time she took with me upfront resulted in finding the perfect fabrics and vendors to work with, in a relatively short period of time. My living room was truly a collaborative effort, which is what I wanted. I have no doubt that seeing Lindsay's style (via her website), she could have created an equally beautiful room for me, sans my input! Highlight's for me were Lindsay finding the PERFECT vintage, Oushak area rug without blowing my budget, pinpointing the perfect fabrics for my sofa and club chairs, and helping me incorporate family antiques along with more contemporary, custom pieces to create a truly warm, eclectic space. This project went so well, we're currently staring project #2, my home office/guest bedroom.

Lindsay MacRae is a true design professional with excellent taste and a wonderful demeanor. She delivers beautifully designed floor plan layouts accompanied by color, fabric and furniture recommendations that truly help one understand how a room can come to life. Her attention to detail is fantastic. When we had an issue with some window treatments she went above and beyond to coordinate with the vendor and fix the situation. She also is willing to provide input on my own design and furniture ideas. I hired Lindsay for a big project - interior paint and window treatments for my 4-bedroom house, design recommendations for 4 rooms, and styling for 2 rooms and a gallery wall. It has been a long (ongoing) process but one that I have really enjoyed.
