Mark's Custom Woodwork

I needed to convert a bonus room to a home office. I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted, and I met with a few traditional cabinet or home organizer places and they simply lacked the quality I was looking for. I became clear that based on the scope and dimensions of what I wanted to do that it would need to be a custom build. I started asking around on the neighborhood Nextdoor website looking for recommendations for a custom cabinet builder in my area. While there were a variety of responses there were several folks who referred me to “Mark’s Custom Woodwork”. One of them sent me a link to his website and after looking it over I sent mark an email explaining what I was looking. Mark got back to me and we set up a time for him to come by for a walkthrough of the space so he could take some measurements. Mark’s estimate was reasonable, and I agreed to move ahead. I knew going in that he already had a lot on his plate, but I was happy to wait the extra month or so before he could go into production. During the process he and I shared several emails going over the design and I found Mark very easy to work with. Once the cabinets and components were completed and finished, we scheduled an install date. It took two (2) days to complete the install and I am very happy with the finished product. The install was clean, and Mark’s workmanship is excellent. If you are looking to have any custom work done, I would highly recommend Mark. The whole experience was very smooth and I would have no problem using him again.

Mark is very courteous and professional. He personally met with me to discuss project specifics, gave a fair price estimate, kept me updated on progress throughout project construction, and had no difficulties meeting the required deadline. Mark is an exceptionally talented woodworker, the finished project came out even better than I ever could have expected. If I ever needed another custom woodwork project again, I would absolutely use Mark and recommend his services to anyone.

I rarely write reviews but after getting such great service, I felt compelled to write this review. What really impressed me is that they were very truthful with the prices and never tried to sell me anything above what I wanted. Mark’s Custom Woodwork is an amazing company to work with.

Mark was a pleasure to work with. He always responded to questions quickly and comprehensively. He did an excellent job constructing and installing our new display cabinet. These were not typical cabinets, as they needed a complex arrangement of pathways through which the electrical wires from our collectibles could pass and be hidden. Mark did a great job of following the plans and everything came out exactly as expected. The cabinets look great and were built just as expected. We would definitely recommend and use Mark again!

For any interior designer's who would consider working with Mark, I suggest that you run the other direction. My company contracted this Mark to install cabinetry and build a custom built-in library (listed as Admirals Cove Home Office on his website). He went behind our backs to make changes to the designs directly with the client resulting in a large budget increase. We were not immediately made aware of this and the end result was a dispute amongst the parties. He then went ahead and completed the work directly with the client essentially stealing our client from us. Mark at no point would return our phone calls, emails or any correspondence requesting an explanation. I have been in the design business for 15 years and never have experienced a sub-contractor working so intently behind our backs. We had paid him every invoice and every dime that he had ever requested only to cause our company a huge loss of income. STAY AWAY. Ethically, I can't even begin to understand how he rationalizes this to himself. He also has pictures of the project on his site as if he himself designed this. HE DID NOT.
