Jeff and Monica Dean (Design by Dean) get an A+ for our remodeling project. The project included a thorough remodeling of the kitchen – installing granite counters, all new cupboard and cabinets, moving and installing a new stove and sink and putting in new lighting. They did quite a few projects in other parts of the house as well, such as raising ceilings, putting in new doors, etc. We've been enjoying the finished product every day for three years now. My wife and I located Design by Dean on the internet and we asked Jeff Dean to meet with us about our kitchen remodel. We were impressed with his expertise, thoroughness and design ideas. After meeting with other contractors, we made our decision to go with Jeff. While making his proposal, Jeff came to our house on more than one occasion and logged many hours with us before we signed the contract. Jeff’s wife, Monica also came several times to help us with design ideas. As we grew to appreciate their integrity, we were able to relax and enjoy the process. Once we began the remodel, we appreciated his ability to coordinate the project and his desire to stay on schedule. Jeff was able to suggest excellent suppliers and went with us to these suppliers to make our selections. He drove with us in a golf cart in the rain to look at granite slabs. He was available by phone and in person, even on weekends, to help us with our many questions. He would often call us to see how we were doing with various developments. He noticed and cared about the details. He did an excellent job of sharing his ideas, while considering our desires as well. Once when we had a concern about the stove hood, he drove here on a Saturday with his daughters and had them standing up high, holding up constructions materials so we could visualize the final picture. Jeff and Monica both met with us at the cabinet maker’s office where we explored Computer Aided Designs, and they helped us with all the details. Jeff did an excellent job of constantly communicating with all the contractors involved, coordinating the timing of everything. Jeff and the whole crew were friendly and hard working. Monica, and my wife seemed to have a connection regarding the way they would view the elements of the design, so that worked out quite well. Monica sometimes pointed out little things we hadn't even noticed, that needed to be fixed or adjusted. Jeff’s eye for design, his attention to detail, his desire to stay on schedule, his willingness to give us his time, his referrals for suppliers and his very happy spirit all combined to make our remodel a wonderful experience. I used them to do a complete remodel - open up walls, new windows, new floor and trim, new electrical, new bath and kitchen, new fireplace, new everything turning a tired house into a new contemporary home. OMG! Where do I begin? I was in charge of an historical project in Tomales for a dear friend of mine. Historical projects can be .... shall we say...challenging. I needed someone to replace the picket fencing around the lot that was in almost as badly in need of repair as the building itself. The building had not been lived in since the 60's and 90% of the building was all original from the teens or twenties and in a state of utter disrepair. By chance, I found Jeff from Design by Dean and asked him to meet me to give a bid on the picket fence. I was so impressed with our meeting that I asked him if he would be interested in bidding on this "challenging" project. Jeff and his crew were understanding, efficient and competitive with their pricing. I won't bore you with all of the gory details but the project was completed in RECORD time (5 months to move in) in spite of all the surprises, hoops, and changes to the original scope of work to satisfy the homeowner, the town, and the county. In the end EVERYONE was very happy! If I ever have another project come up in the North Bay Jeff is the first person I will call no matter what the size or scope of work.

This was a big project for us. Tearing down an old unsafe deck 8 feet off the ground and building us a beautiful new deck. Jeff and his team worked with us to design and build a much improved space. Everyone was a joy to have at our house. They were all very respectful, hard workers. The bid for this job was much lower than the other bid we got. They did high quality work and didn't cut corners. We would highly recommend this company
