The journey to build our forever home started with a search for an architect over three years ago. It was important to find someone who we would connect with and understand our needs not just our wants. Reviewing the Pippen Home Designs website, I knew we found "the one". Jenny Pippen is the first person we hired to build our home. It has been a long journey for us. We started with the intent to remodel a classic Lake Norman cottage. When it became clear we could not get the house we wanted using the original structure, it was Jenny who helped us to make the decision to move forward with a new build. Her mentoring meant so much to me. Jenny is an architect with unquestionable competence, knowledge and experience. What sets her apart from very good architects and makes her the GOAT, is her ability to read clients, understand what they need even when it difficult for us to articulate what we needed and her team approach. Through her strong interpersonal skills she has built a solid cadre of builders, designers and other key people needed when building a home. Jenny is much more than a highly skilled architect. She designs homes for people and each design is built around the lifestyle and wellness of the people who will live in the house. We are in the construction stage working with a great builder Jenny recommended. You will not find anyone better to work with.

This was our first experience with an architecture firm. Pippin Home Designs was one of the firms our builder recommended. I see why and we are so thankful we selected Pippin! We recently completed an extensive remodel and redesign of our forever lake home. Although this was not our first experience with remodels, we knew there would be challenges as we were working with a foundation built in the 1970’s with many odd angles, unknowns behind the drywall and living space that had some functional issues for us. We had heard wonderful reviews from trusted folks who worked with Jenny Pippin. When we contacted her, she was very responsive and provided us with relevant information as to what to expect at each stage in the process. Our home design project was the renovation of a 1600 square foot log cabin which was encapsulated by conventional stick-frame construction ( not logs) on all sides. Our vision was to retain the character of the “lake house cabin” while creating a larger lodge style home. Jenny has the most amazing vision and was able to take my vague description of how we were trying to transform our house and truly make it even better then I could have imagined! We liked her designs so much she is now doing our parents house. Once again i am blown away at how she took a seemingly impossible house and transformed it. The attention to detail and overall quality is unmatched.

We engaged Jenny to help us renovate our 1987 brick ranch lakefront home, and she was fantastic to work with. We selected Jenny due to her reputation, impressive design portfolio, and most importantly to us, how much collaboration she demonstrated in the review process. We interviewed several architects and many were great, but we had concerns about their design insistence and how willing they would be to incorporate other points of view. Jenny was very open to often contradictory views on the design, and worked through them with us ultimately leading to a fantastic design. As far as the design itself, we were very satisfied with the process. We thought she did a great job utilizing and expanding upon current load bearing walls and roof lines to keep the restructuring effort contained to our budget. She met at our home in person several times and over video calls throughout the 6-7 month design process to iterate and refine the design. She made a concerted effort to really design our home around our family and desired use, and we did not feel rushed or dismissed during discussions. She would take our concerns and ideas seriously and offer constructive feedback and/or integrate our ideas. We are very happy with the end product, and can now appreciate many of the little details that she took into consideration during the design. Little things like light switch positions and door types, to big things like how walls effect eye lines, how rooms flow, and how to accommodate kids’ habits into the design (always make a drop zone!). All in all, we very much enjoyed working with Jenny and would recommend her to all. She has a great eye for how to best utilize space, is great to work with, and produces a great product at the end. 10/10.

My wife and I had an amazing experience working with Jenny on our renovation. We were looking to add square footage to our unique 1300 sq foot cottage here on Lake Norman. There were many challenges we faced, some of which included incorporating the existing stand alone 2 car garage, as well as the separate accessory building. We also had limitations and set backs with regards to our existing septic. In our first face to face meeting, Jenny asked us to walk her though our home (interior and exterior). She listened intently and openly to what we were hoping to accomplish for our family. It was pretty surreal how Jenny, even after only a short time talking with us, the vision and insight she introduced to us on the spot. Pippin Home Designs is an amazing design firm! From the first site visit to the final design, Jenny and Wes captured our vision and provided for a well thought out and functional house. We came to Jenny/ Pippin home designs after many boat rides looking at houses and finding out she was the architect on our several favorites. We worked with Jenny on a custom design for a lakefront home. One of the challenges (like many lake lots) was fitting the house and septic and still maximizing the space and design. Jenny was wonderful to work with! My husband and I wanted a house designed in tandem with the landscape that would make the most of natural lighting. She took the time to meet us beforehand to walk the property and help orient the home. Jenny designed us a beautiful house with as many green design features as we could afford. We wanted a lot of features with a relatively small square footage, and she was able to deliver. When we asked her to make adjustments based on our own changing ideas, she always responded promptly. Pippin Home Designs was suggested to me by my health care provider when I mentioned we were about to build our house but that I had specific health-related requirements -- allergies and sensitivities for which we needed professional guidance as well as an architect able to take my pencil drawings and turn them into the WOW! -industrial-style home we had dreamed of for 30 years. We knew that would be Jenny and her team from the first moments we sat with her and Wes. Her experience and ability to translate our sketches, wants and needs into a workable plan was impressive. Over about 9 months we collaborated closely, taking her spot-on advice over and over again. This was a tough build: we used all-steel framing and have an exterior spiral staircase and an interior ellipse staircase, an elevator, lots of glass, and some crazy steep slopes on a very narrow lake-front lot which is on solid rock (found that out the hard way). Undaunted, she produced the clean, wide-open home we had been dreaming of; it looks and feels far bigger than it actually is thanks to her smart engineering. The entire project took just over three years, from first meeting to move-in day. Along the way, we made friends with Jenny and Wes, bonus! We have been in our new home for just about 10 months, and we are still in awe.

We have never built a house before. But, we Knew of Jenny’s reputation, brand and designs from being in this part of NC for 30 years. So, when it was time for us to begin the process of floor planning and overall build/design concepts it was a matter of minutes for us to call Jenny and get on her calendar. From start to finish she has treated our design process as if she was building this house for herself. Her Team is a valued partner to us as we navigate our way from paper to finished product. I can't say enough good things about Jenny Pippin. I am a new home builder and Jenny has designed over 50 homes, both speculative construction for my company over the past 29 years. We never had construction issues with her blueprints which is a testimony to her attention to detail And our plan and corresponding elevations were always modern and kept up with the changing times. In addition, Jenny helped many of my customers who were starting the design process from scratch. Prior to meeting with Jenny, I used to tell my customers that she has a great talent to listen, write notes and then take that information and turn it into a plan for a new home. She always made an "A" with my customers who came away very impressed with their new floor plan after the first draft. Her creativity is outstanding and she can design elevations for many different styles of homes. In addition, she stays up to date with building codes and new & innovate construction methods. Jenny really listened during our first meeting to everything I said and incorporated all of my wants/needs/ideas. She was very easy to work with (across the U.S.) and prompt in her responses. This is the first house we have built and our dream home on Lake Norman, NC. I had no idea how to start the process and she took the ball and ran with it and created what I believe will be a spectacular home for us. Jenny came out to property so she could make sure the views and position of the home on the property took advantage of the water. Already having the original blue prints for the home, we quickly discovered Jenny was the original designer! When we decided to build our dream hope a friend referred us to Jenny Pippin for a design. At our initial meeting Jenny spent time with us and was very thorough in asking specific questions about the features that we wanted in our home. We were pleased that she asked questions that we never considered. Her team drew up a sketch that would fit our footprint, with excellent views of the water on 3 sides. She was very skilled at creating a unique design with all the features that we discussed. The design, engineering, and implementation went well even with some minor changes that we asked for. We are Jeff and Terry Lancaster of Mooresville, NC and we commissioned Jenny Pippen to put our dream home on print. The experience has been nothing less than professional. She allowed us to bounce all of our design ideas off of her as well as make sure that those ideas perfectly fit our needs. She was very patient with us even while changing our house plan three times. Purchased a home in 2016 that included a 400 sq ft cement-slab patio. Pippen Home Designs took that cement slab and designed a beautiful 400 sq ft 4-season sunroom, with large windows all around. See photo of the completed project.

We paid Jenny for a site consult about a home addition and received her verbal design ideas, which were fine. She pointed us at her recommended contractors to work out some cost trade-offs for scope. After a couple months we had the cost understood and contacted Jenny again by email to start her design process. Unfortunately she never saw that email to respond, and she did not proactively reach back out to us on her own. We decided to find another architect to draw up the plans and lost some time. Jenny did reach out to us after seeing this review, so we thank her for that and I have revised the rating up as a result. Advice to others is to call her if she doesn't get back to you by email, as she is usually very responsive.

We love to look at houses on the lake. One day we saw a home that we absolutely loved and asked the owners who designed it. That’s how we found Jenny and Wes. We met with her and were impressed by the depth of questions she asked. When she sent her first set of drawings we were blown away. She nailed the design! Deciding what to do for our “Dream Home” was daunting, to say the least. There’s a multitude of websites with floor plans to choose, and that’s where we started. We had no luck, because all of them lacked certain elements that we wanted, or at least wanted to try to achieve. Thanks to Wes’ 3-D Walkthrough we know what it will be like to walk through our new home. It is an indispensable tool. Jenny and Wes visited our lot and took pictures of the views and then actually incorporated those into the full color renderings! We were so impressed! We could not be more pleased with our experience with Jenny, Wes, and Pippin Home Designs, Inc. We definitely consider this money well spent!

Pippi Home Designs did a remarkable job with a renovation to redesign our newly purchased home. We had a very special request- modernizing a traditional home for multi-generational living. We now have four generations living independently under one roof. The design allows maximum light, beautiful architectural features and practical lifestyle attributes. Jenny is a delightful person. We found Pippin Home Designs after touring a beautiful home on the market that was designed by Jenny. When we decided to build and design our own home, I contacted Jenny since we had loved the home we walked through months earlier, and we were hoping to achieve a similar feel. We hired Jenny to design a remodel for our very old, and in need of an update, Mt Island Lake home. She is great! She listened to all we wanted to do and how to do it on a budget. She gave us good feedback as to why we should or shouldn’t do some things. In fact we only had to change 2 parts. One because we wanted a different look for the front roofline of our home and one to save a lot of money once we received quotes from builders. This is because Jenny listens to her clients!!! We didn’t have to redesign hardly anything. She is also very professional and sticks to deadlines. She is excellent at maximizing the view and considering the natural terrain of the property the house will be on both of which are very important to a lake front house. Our builder even asked for Jenny’s contact info so he could speak to her about his own home! He had recently sold his home and was looking for a designer to draw plans for his new Lake home.

My husband and I purchased a thirteen-year-old house in Banner Elk, NC. We loved so many parts of the house, but we wanted to update it. I found Jenny Pippin on the Houzz website and our relationship with her was so much more than I expected. She was very professional, organized and personable. The whole process is divided in three parts: As-Built Phase, Design Phase, and Construction Drawing Phase. Each phase is explained in detail and she let us know ahead of time what would happen next. It was during the design phase that we changed our minds on some of our ideas. Jenny was so easy to work with. She was patient and offered very helpful advice throughout the experience. Another aspect was that she met with the contractor during the last phase and answered lots of questions. She even reached out to the surveyor when she needed additional information concerning location of property lines and the septic drain field. It was here that I began to understand her vast knowledge of building construction. An additional talent is that she looked at our house and helped us design for a handicapped person. Overall, we were very happy with the outcome. We wanted to execute the plan in stages, so she met with us and our contractor to break the design into doable parts. Our contractor was so impressed with the construction drawing. He said he’s used to getting ideas written out on a napkin and nothing like the detail that Jenny presented. From the first moment we met her in our home to discuss renovations - to the last detail of the Construction Drawing, she has just been so awesome to work with. In the spring of 2009 we decided to add on a screen porch to our home.
