We have had the pleasure of working with Peggy on several projects over the past 18 years, most recently on a barn renovation project which became beautifully reconditioned living space. Through her discerning sense of style and design, she was able to create warm and comfortable living space that melded seamlessly with the old barn, so at completion it felt as timeless as the original barn itself. She is always finding beautiful salvaged architectural items and artfully incorporating them into her designs. I recently hired Peggy to help me design and decorate my new apartment. I had seen her work in several homes and LOVED everything I ever saw. I had also learned that Peggy was lovely to work with and very practical about finding inexpensive solutions when budgets call for them. So, when I sold my home and downsized to a 2 bedroom apartment, I knew I wanted Peggy to make it beautiful. And she did! First, she elicited my likes and dislikes and hopes for my new space. I loved that she asked me to look through hundreds of tear sheets from decorating magazines, zeroing in on looks that appealed to me and looks that I did not like. And she made careful notes about everything I mentioned that I really hoped to incorporate. She also helped me decide how to use furniture that I wanted to incorporate and made lists of what I needed. She went shopping with me as I selected several new pieces, including my sofa, a leaner miorror, and an area rug. And keeping an eye on my budget, she took me to a wonderful consignment store where I found a pretty upholstered chair and two fabulous dining chairs for next to nothing. She brought me dozens of fabric swatches to try in my apartment, and helped me pick the best ones -- and she found fabrics that look expensive but miraculously are not! She even made the covers for my dining chairs herself when we couldn't find someone to recreate the adorable but complicated covers I had seen in a magazine and gotten my heart set on. She helped me select paint colors, bringing large poster boards painted with the colors I picked from those tiny color chips, so I could really see what they would look like, One of Peggy's many talents is her eye for accessorizing -- and she believes that fabulous accessories don't have to cost a fortune. She found beautiful bedside lamps for me at J.C. Penney. They are so perfect in my bedroom. She took me to Pier 1, where I found many inexpensive accent pieces. And her knack for arranging objects on tables and shelves was genius. Through it all, Peggy was always great fun to be with, and so patient. She never made me feel that budget constraints were a problem. She never tried to steer me away from my preferences, but instead tried to make them all work together and look great. And I loved that she never forgets about comfort -- she wants every chair, every fabric to be soothing and welcoming. The result is an apartment that I absolutely ADORE. i am beyond happy in my beautiful, casual but sophisticated, warm and serene, pretty, pretty home. It is beyond what I ever dreamed, and I owe it all to Peggy of Peggy Hart Home; I am so grateful!
