Om os

I am an award-winning garden designer living in rural Dorset offering a range of services from full garden design and rebuild to one-off consultancy work. I am a registered Member of the Society of Garden Designers. My background in Historical Architecture and the world of Fine Art means that I am especially well qualified at creating gardens for period properties, but what I most enjoy is designing family gardens that will be used and enjoyed by all members of the family. After a career in fine art, I opened my own private garden for the National Gardens Scheme for three years from 2006-2008, whilst retraining. I have completed Diploma courses in both 'Practical Horticulture' at the English Gardening School in Chelsea and 'Garden Design' at the Garden Design School at Painshill Park, Cobham, where I trained under Moira Farnham and Robin Templar Williams.

It was a pleasure working with Rebecca Smith to transform our unloved outside space into the beautiful garden that we now have. Rebecca not only showed a great understanding of our brief and style, but also contributed many ideas of her own, resulting in a plan that far exceeded our expectations. From the design stage, through to taking the project out to tender and then overseeing the landscaping work, Rebecca demonstrated exceptional design skills and has been professional and approachable throughout. We very much look forward to working with her again in the future when we develop the front of our property.

We hired Rebecca Smith to redesign our garden. She came up with a number of well thought out and creative structural ideas at the same time as supplying us with a list of plants and exactly where they should be placed for maximum effect. The end result was amazing! We have had comment after comment on what a beautiful space our garden now is and not only is it a wonderful space to be in, but it is also a real pleasure to open the curtains in the morning and look out onto such a well thought out and planted space (no matter what the time of year). We would thoroughly recommend Rebecca Smith for any garden design and planting projects that you might have.
