Single Room Design or clients in the beginning phase of Decorating $10,000-$50,000. Kitchen Renovation $50,000-$500,000. Large Residence in need of Full Scale Design and Decorating $300,000 and up. Full in Depth Home Consults $250-$500. Custom Window Treatment $2500-$50,000. Custom Furniture $10,000-100,000. Reed & Acanthus bills on an hourly design fee basis tailored to fit client's scope and budget. Keeping in mind client’s taste, budget and lifestyle, Reed & Acanthus uses a minimalist approach, layering textures and fabrics in combination with contemporary and traditional furnishings to create comfortable, timeless and stylish spaces in a broad range of styles from summer house casual to gracious, formal homes. Katharine Kelly Rhudy worked at Sotheby's New York. A graduate of Columbia University, she obtained an M.A. in the History of Decorative Arts from Cooper Hewitt/ Parsons, pursued Appraisal Studies at NYU and studied Interior Design at Fairfield University. She is an associate member of the Interior Design Society and allied member of American Society of Interior Designers.

Katharine listens..whether you have your own vision or you need her input, she executes the mutual plan. She has great resources, a great eye and a friendly manner. She works quickly and is totally responsive in all ways. She is totally present in all aspects of the project and we were delighted with our end result. We will use her services again to continue our home projects.

She is enthusiastic and creative with a fabulous eye for detail that brings a fresh perspective to every project. Katharine Rhudy and Reed & Acanthus helped us with a long overdue update to our summer home. We wanted something low maintenance, child and pet friendly that reflected our casual beach style. Her recommendations were spot on from removing old carpet and installing hardwood floors to using much of our existing furniture and reupholstering, instead of replacing, sofas and chairs. The result was amazing ! A clean, bright and sophisticated look that reflected our taste and style. Katharine is creative, professional and very fun to work with. We highly recommend Reed & Acanthus!

Katharine Rudy of Reed & Acanthus is the consummate professional. She listened to my thoughts, and sought to create an environment reflecting my tastes rather than an easily recognizable signature decorator style. She was relentless in finding or helping me find the perfect fabrics. Her eye for color and texture is uncanny. She worked with my existing pieces and brought in a fabulous updated look I am so proud of. Her tasks included paint and fabric choices, as well as furniture and art placement. She excelled in all, while keeping a constant eye on cost. But I think most importantly, her ability to give an opinion, educate and encourage me so that ultimately I made all decisions with her support and experience, solidified Ms Rudy as a top tier interior decorator. I will most certainly use her again and recommend her highly and without reservation.

Katharine decorated our Vero Beach Home and we could not have been more pleased! She has a great eye for both quality and value and was able to take our ideas and translate them into a much better reality! She co-ordinated everything--perfect paint colors, floor coverings, furniture, fabrics, and many fabulous accessories. Katharine's integrity and professionalism is apparent at every turn, but most of all results were fabulous, on time and on budget! We are currently planning our next project with Katharine!

As a photographer, I have the privilege of working with a lot of different designers and seeing how they translate space and objects into an overall design. Katharine of Reed & Acanthus has a deep talent for curating special treasures from all periods of time and styles into a cohesive design that feels fresh and modern while still honoring classic traditions to create spaces that will stand the test of time. For example, when documenting a home in which the homeowner did not want to change old wallpaper or carpet, I was very impressed with how Katharine worked with that challenge on a design level with furnishings and accessories to make the space feel fresh and new even though some large room elements needed to stay the same. While preparing each space for photographing, it was also obvious that a lot of attention to detail, texture, and quality was given to all of the furnishings and fabrics in each room. Pieces weren't chosen just for looks, but also for their excellent quality and ability to stand up to the wear and tear of time.

Katharine helped us make updates to several rooms in our New Canaan home. She suggested changes like wall color, lighting and floor coverings and was able to make our home look fresh and new by reupholstering and adding quality pieces and art to our existing pieces.
