With the successful completion of over 300 projects since 1991, Shepard Butler Landscape Design has established the importance of being true to the land, with a particular emphasis on the roles that mood, texture, scale, space, and color play in every design. We create timeless landscapes that maintain a sense of soulful simplicity and purity of material form. We strongly believe in the value of working directly with skilled craftsman and using a regionally appropriate plant pallet as a way of reconnecting even the smallest project back into the collective richness of its regional context. Our design philosophy is rooted in the belief that great landscape design is a partnership between the natural essence of the site and those who EXPERIENCE it, LIVE it, and USE it. We believe the most successful designs are those that can simultaneously embody the true spirit of the landscape while serving to integrate architecture seamlessly into the exterior environment.
