Sun Valley Landscaping

Crew came by our home today in Papillion. Hard to dodge the rains of spring. Did their usual super job for our yard and our next door neighbors at 1209. Boy is that grass green! You guys are tops!

I’m very impressed with the service I’ve had at Sun Valley! I had stopped in several months ago and asked for some flat hand sized stones as I wanted to teach my Grandson how to skip rocks in a lake! My Grandfather taught me! I ended up buying #60 of nice rocks that a great employee helped us pick out from several bins of river rock on a very hot day! The rocks were very hot to touch- no problem! So today my wife and I stopped in to check on prices for a larger piece of flagstone to place at the bottom of a ramp off our patio to place my grill on and I can grill from my wheelchair on the flagstone instead of in a mud hole! Morgan came out from the office to show me the pieces! After seeing several we decided on a slightly larger piece but it will work nicely! I was concerned about the price so she had Frank come over and he gave us an estimate and he was very close as he offered to unpack the large piece and go weight it!! Both Morgan and Frank were very very helpful to me and my wife and I are looking forward to placing that beautiful piece off our patio!! Thank You for the time and Great Service!!

After reading so many good reviews, I was persuaded to hire Sun Valley to do a small hardscape in my backyard - stone stairway and flagstone at the top and bottom of stairs, and for shrub relocations in the yard. After calling in April, it took several weeks to get anyone to come out to give me an estimate. When I finally got an estimate, it was too hot to do the shrub relocation, but I had had a friend do the sod removal in the areas where the stairway was to be installed. I had asked for estimates based on two or three different substrates - limestone, preformed concrete, and one of their own choices. There was to be a flagstone area at the top of the stairs, extending across the width of an existing concrete pad, and a flagstone area at the base of the stairs. The stairs were to be flanked by a mulched garden bed on one side and river rock on the other, and there was to be a continuation of an adjacent downspout beneath the flagstone deck at at the top of the stairs. The estimate I got did not include any options for the materials I had asked for and no details as to how they would be constructed. Nevertheless, we agreed to a price, and the work was to be done in late June. Then I got notice that it would be done the first week in July. Then I got a notice that it would be done the second week in July. Then the third week in July. I was then told that they didn't have enough material to do the job on hand and would have to wait two more weeks. The day the workers were supposed to show up, they didn't. And I asked about the materials for the downspout extension under the flagstone and was treated VERY badly for even asking. It had been something I'd originally asked for and assumed it was in the rather vague estimate, but was told I was lying or misremembering and that it would cost an additional $400. I thought then I should cancel the job, but a nice fellow (who is no longer there now) convinced me to pay a $150 extra for the downspout/drainage PVC pipe, and I agreed. The crew did finally show up the next day. they were very nice and worked hard. However, the stairway they installed looked nothing like what I'd agreed to, and they neither finished the flagstone at the top and had no flagstone for the base of the stairway. I had to go buy that myself from a stone/rock place and install it myself. To top everything off, they ended up not using one of the stone stair pieces, which they charge $250 for, and I was basically expected to eat the cost of that. No one called to find out if the job had been done to my satisfaction, no one inquired whether it was done correctly. It was not. I was treated rudely and made to feel like I was lucky they even bothered with my job. I'm not wealthy. It wasn't a big job. It obviously was not a priority for Sun Valley. But I saved for months and months in order to do this, and was treated very badly throughout and overcharged, and I don't even have the stairway I had hoped for. I would not recommend hiring them.

Sun Valley did a great job on our landscaping. Sue was terrific! Options were presented and Sue was able to suggest things that I wouldn't have thought of. The work was done on time, and it all looks great! Planning to have them come back this Spring to do additional work in another area of the yard. I highly recommend Sun Valley Landscaping!

We've had Sun Valley design and landscape our lawn in three stages, front and side yard in 2001, main backyard in 2002, and area right by our house in 2014. Hugh did an amazing job listening to the story we wanted to tell, understanding how much work we wanted to do ourselves, and creating a design that was in a word. We live in a 1920s bungalow, and everything he did in 2001 and 2002 still looks wonderful. The paver patios and walkways are in excellent shape and the plants have taken shape and filled in well. Most recently, we wanted to remove all of the cement leading to our detached garage and create a "French Quarter" feel in the back, with stone paths and steps leading to an outdoor seating area. Hugh's workmen did an amazing job - especially on the stone work, and the backyard is simply magical. Any landscaping looks great the first year. But it takes experience and an eye to choose and place plants, trees and shrubs that will grow gracefully into their surroundings. Hugh has that eye. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sun Valley to anyone.

I had mowing service for about a month while my husband was deployed. Not only were they nearly a week late with the first mow, leaving my yard a jungle, but their quotes were incorrect. I was quoted $25 for spring clean up and I was charged $40. They claimed this was due to more work being required than initially thought. Maybe because my yard hadn't been mowed for two weeks, through no fault of my own? Also, the spring clean up was to include a hard edge around all flower beds. Not one of my flower beds, front or back yard, was hard edged. They also managed to mow down part of my rose bushes. They also neglected to include the military discount with every billing. I'm not one to beg for a military discount, but hey, if you're going to offer it so I hire you over someone else, I'll take it. To not include in it every subsequent billing is careless at best or deceptive at worst. They also mowed again after our contract was up and I had hired a replacement mower, and sent me the bill, but at least they comped it when I brought this to their attention. However, they apparently didn't fix it in the system, so I just got a paper bill in the mail stating my bill is over due. Up until this point, I was annoyed, but not enough to write a review. Well, three screwed up bills later after only a month of service, I am sufficiently annoyed to write a review detailing my experience so that you might know what you're in for. Josiah was always plenty friendly on the phone and got the issues mostly dealt with, but they were issues that made me want to not work with this company any more. EDIT: After my review was posted here, Ashly did reach out to me to try to correct what was wrong. She offered to replace my damaged rose bush, but I declined as they are fairly large and any replacement would probably look worse than the current one that is missing a couple branches. She did state the the "hard edge" included in the spring clean up is only around hard surfaces like sidewalk and driveways, not flower beds. I will still say I never had the "hard edge" done around these in my yard either, as I don't really consider weed whacking along the edges of the sidewalk "hard edging." She sent out some coupons to apologize for my billing errors, but it still took this review to have the issue looked into. Hopefully they got it figured out so it doesn't affect other customers.

Very professional. They removed our wood decked patio and transformed it into a beautiful courtyard using cobblestone pavers. They were especially diligent in creating a slight slope to allow water to flow away from the foundation. In addition they repaired some broken cement steps and re tucked the brick walls surrounding the courtyard. The work was done in a reasonable time without any inconvenience to our lifestyle.

Susan and her crew created an amazing landscape design for our backyard. They removed an ancient brick patio and replaced it with flagstone. They were able to give us a flat area for entertaining by moving lots of earth and constructing a beautiful curved wall. All this was done on time and within the established budget. Couldn't be happier!

A few years ago, I contacted Sun Valley to help me come up with some ideas for my small back yard space. I needed to have some space for my dog and I wanted a spot to entertain guests. One of the designers from Sun Valley called to set-up some time with me to look at my yard and help me organize my ideas. I was really impressed with the design process. The designer was very flexible with his schedule. He was able to meet with me after work. He asked me questions about the things that were important to me and offered me some great suggestions. After several collaboration sessions, we decided on a final design. I felt like I was a part of the process and my personality was reflected in the final product. Sun Valley's design was not an out of the box design that you see in every neighborhood. Construction began on schedule and was finished within a reasonable amount of time. The Sun Valley staff was in uniform and professional. I could tell that the guys that were working on my patio and landscaping were invested in the project. The project coordinator took pride in what he was doing. He accommodated a last minute change that I requested without issue. He also corrected a mistake without me having to ask. I'm very pleased with the project and the quality of work from Sun Valley. I have a very cool back yard that doesn't look like anyone else's. I would definitely recommend Sun Valley’s services to anyone looking for something creative and unique.

The people with whom we worked at Sun Valley Landscaping were professional in every way. They met with us to discuss the overall project and what we wanted for the landscaping. They drew up the plan and went over it with us and described, in detail, what it was they were going to do. The work was also presented in such a way that it could be done in stages. We decided on a plan. Once the work was started it took less than two days to put in the new flower beds, plant the trees and add mulch. Overall, the work is fantastic. We are looking forward to the next part of the project. I was also impressed to find that they offer snow removal services for service people. I highly recommend Sun Valley Landscaping.

Sun Valley did a lovely job on our patio, deck, outdoor kitchen, retaining wall and landscape. They also took to heart our wishes to keep everything 'in period' with our historic home and incorporated antique architectural artifacts into the hardscape.
