“Did a new house decorating project with Red Shutters and really enjoyed working with Marina and Janine. They are smart, responsive, creative and were able to take my very basic ideas about what I wanted and turn them into a full-fledged plan of action for all the rooms of the house. Marina was able to look at my existing furnishings and work with me to decide what to keep, what to replace, and what needed to be purchased new (which turned out to be a lot). They are also great at the back end of things - keeping track of the budget, furniture delivery and shade installation dates, coordinating calendars, coordinating with the builder, etc, which I consider to be equally important. Our place is a second home in the Hudson Valley (we are not there full time), and having the team available in-person to supervise installs or to pop by to take a quick measurements was hugely helpful. Would definitely use them again, and we are continuing to work together in 2025.”

“Handcrafted Builders Inc., of Rhinebeck, New York did an excellent job in the renovation of my house on Chestnut St; in the village of Rhinebeck. Gregg and Mark were sensitive to the history of the house and returned it to what it looked like in the 1890's. Their knowledge was encyclopedic and their attention to detail was reassuring whenever we visited to see the progress of the renovation. They knew what professionals to call on for different aspects of the project, whether it was electrical, plumbing, painting, heating and central air conditioning and the most efficient way to insulate an old house which did not have any. It was a thoroughly modern upgrade. Gregg even suggested that a poured concrete floor in my basement would be much better than the rubberized floor that I thought would be sufficient. On the exterior of the brick house Handcrafted recreated the Victorian details that were once present, but long removed. They also had expert staff to install a new kitchen with a modern, contemporary feel, but felt original to the house with antiqued cabinetry and beautiful new oak floors. Since we also added a two-story addition with a side porch, it proved to be just as attractive as the original rooms of the historic house. Here again Handcrafted installed an iron beam to insure that the old brick walls were properly supported. Finally, the cost was what we expected and was well-worth it. Had I another project to consider, I wouldn't hesitate to employ this company again.”
