“Inspired by my upbringing on the shores of a Scottish loch and many visits to Cape Code in the U.S., the Consultant transformed my 22 year old lakeside home in Sylvan Lake, Alberta into an inspired translation of my dream and vision for my pre-retirement. The 2-phased project, a total interior renovation in 2012 and a total exterior renovation, landscaping and new outdoor living area in 2013/2014 posed many unforeseen challenges and involved the work of 3 general contractors and multiple sub-contractors. The Consultant was the glue that coordinated and managed all project details through active site inspections, meticulous record keeping, attention to detail and constant, timely communication. The Consultant listened to what I wanted to achieve and made it happen. The Consultant had a great eye for color, fabrics and finishes and was able to source furnishings and decor, challenging to find within the overall concept in this part of the world! In addition, the Consultant managed my "quirks" with grace and professionalism, and was patient when I completely re-thought the lighting package, as I am very sensitive to light. The Consultant was also able to creatively challenge me and to move me away from entrenched pre-conceived notions, which thankfully left me with an end product that took my breath away when I walked in the door. My home is my sanctuary and the Consultant respected that. The project was on time and within budget, and the Consultant definitely led the quality assurance checks. The project was not without challenges and the odd conflict with many sub-contractors and there were a few times when it felt like the Consultant was my only advocate and ally. The completion of the project was a life milestone and I know the Consultant was what made it possible. She cradled my dream gently in the palm of her hand and finally one day this spring, blew on it gently and let it fly home. I cannot thank you enough.”
