I prefer a shower curtain for practical reasons. We have very hard water that would leave mineral deposit spots if I don't squeegee then dry with towel the entire glass surface immediately after each shower. With a full-length shower door, that would mean multiple passes top to bottom and a danger of falling. So glass would look nicer but shower curtain is safer for me.

Insulated draperies make a huge difference in heat loss of windows. You can buy insulated drapery lining at chain fabric stores or online and add it to your unlined curtains and drapes or buy clip on drapery rings and cut a length of lining fabric to fit the window, and clip it at the top and thread on to the rod behind your present window treatment. The lining does not fray and does not need hemmed. I have done this for my sliding glass doors over the winter and take the linings down over the summer when they are open to the screened porch. these linings also cut down on the amount of light that comes in the windows.
