We went with a rich wall colour here (Pigeon F&B) and carried it right the way across all new joinery in the room. We hung gorgeous heavily back curtains with a leading edge that matched the rich velvet dark grey/black bed fabric. A simple silk pendant shade with defuser and Pooky bedside lights softened the space perfectly and within budget!
