Asymmetrical balance: the visual weight of objects. Rather than repeating the same item within a space to achieve balance, in this case we are using different elements with a similar perceived weight to achieve balance on the opposing axis. For example, there was a wide open space next to the staircase but instead of putting another table, they put something that makes the entryway balance.

This entryway features asymmetrical balance, although the widow and light fixture are considered symmetrical, nothing eles is. The room is still balanced though because there is an even amount of visual weight on both sides of the room.
