The 18” deep pantry we installed between the kitchen and music room provides abundant storage which compensates for the otherwise small kitchen. We’ve found that between 15” and 18” is the perfect depth for a pantry closet -- deep enough to hold small appliances and large platters, but still shallow enough that nothing gets lost. The use of bypass doors ensured that no extra space was taken up in the passageway between the two rooms. A light inside the pantry make sure it’s easy to find everything.
